Fantasy-Faction has grown considerably over the last 18 months. We’ve gone from being a blog, that pretty much only the owner’s best friends and close family read, to an incredibly active community that has attracted as many as 20,000 visitors in a single day. Essentially, our staff have put in so much hard work that we’ve been noticed and grown to the size that people have started to discuss Fantasy-Faction amongst the top genre websites in the world. Not only that, our fans have been good to us – telling their friends and family to check this site out, and we appreciate that.
Our reputation is built on correctly championing excellent books. Peter V. Brett and Joe Abercrombie are no strangers to Fantasy-Faction admiration – both authors having been award 5/5 stars for each and every one of their published works. Myke Cole, a relatively new author, exploded onto the scene this year when his book was released in America and also earned a 5/5 ranking from Fantasy-Faction.
So, we’d been looking for a reason to celebrate the site’s success for a while and when we heard that Myke Cole was due to fly over to the UK and sign copies of his new book – we decided we couldn’t let this opportunity slide. Quickly, plans were put into place with Myke’s publishers, Headline, to hold a little bit of an event to celebrate Myke’s arrival. They spoke with their friendly rivals (Gollancz and Harper Voyager) and put us in touch with them and things expanded from there.
And now – here it is…plans are locked in and we can finally invite our friends (that’s you)!
For the first time ever, Myke Cole and Peter V. Brett will be flying to the UK in order to meet fans and sign copies of their books – together. And, with Joe Abercrombie’s (A) Red Country due out just a few weeks later – it seemed logical to invite him along too! So there you have it: Joe Abercrombie, Peter V. Brett and Myke Cole all in the same room, signing books and talking with their loyal fans. We also have a few other plans that will be revealed closer to the time: so look out for those!
So, yes – the event will take place in Blackwells in London, England. And although we have no way of measuring it, we feel safe in saying that this is the most “awesome” Blackwell’s has ever had packed into their store in one go! You can sign up by heading over to the Facebook page here.
If you have any questions please e-mail: Marc@Fantasy-Faction.com. We hope to see you there!
And this is why I am moving back to the UK in two months….tired of missing everything interesting! Don’t you want to postpone by a month?? 🙂
looking forward to meeting all these lovely authors i hear so much about =)
Delighted to have a three massive authors in the store and to be working with the mighty Fantasy Faction.
Den — SFF buyer at Blackwell, Charing Cross Road
Thank you, Den!
We are excited to PROPERLY meet you too ;P
Officially amazeballs!
It’s a shame I live in Sweden… Ah, well.
I’ve read everything Abercrombie and Brett have written so I guess I’ll have to check out Cole’s books as well.
I’ll do what I can to pop over and say hi from Cardiff 😀
So we will be able to buy the sequel to Control Point: Shadow Ops on the day then? Will Brett have a book to flog too or not yet?

Can’t wait! Should be a great event.
Is this a straight-up book signing, or is there a discussion panel as well?
Hi Pete,
We are working on making a mini-panel – it is really down to the practicalities and the amount of people that we foresee attending. Right now it seems like it is going to be PACKED FULL OF PEOPLE 😉
I’m really looking forward to this! Thanks for organising it!
Watch out for that Abercrombie. He uses his teeth. Plus, who else can get away with wearing a hoodie and a sport coat?
