Gods of Obsidian by Liz Delton

Today we get to reveal the cover for Gods of Obsidian, the third and final book in Liz Delton’s Legends of Gold and Silver series. Above you already got a glimpse, the full size cover will be below!

The art is once again by Jeff Brown, and it’s a fitting send-off for the series. Gods of Obsidian is out on 9 March 2027 and is up for preorder now. Liz joins us to talk about working with Jeff, saying goodbye to the series, and what’s still to come.

A word from Liz Delton

It’s never easy for me to wrap up a series, but having this gorgeous artwork from Jeff Brown does make it a little easier! It has been an absolute honor to work with Jeff on this series, from watching the sketches transform into epic detail, to having Flames of Gold become a finalist in the Dragon Awards for the cover art.

And I’m happy to say I will continue to work with Jeff on more artwork for the series, even though Gods of Obsidian is the final book. In April 2027, I’ll be launching a special edition of Flames of Gold on Kickstarter with brand new art from Jeff Brown, as well as art from Sutthiwat Dechakamphu, who illustrated the cover for M.L. Spencer’s Dragon Mage.

Gods of Obsidian wraps up the Legends of Gold and Silver series, bringing several years of storytelling to a close. Fig, Dev, Mairead, and Vaelor have been struck down time and again, only to rise to the challenge–and this time is no different. Some of them will seek new power, while others will have it forced upon their shoulders.

And we can’t forget our snarky dragonet, Emrah, who may have finally found some companions of his own after years thinking he was the only dragonet on the continent.

And here it is, in all its glory…

About Gods of Obsidian

The wrong heir has come to claim the throne of Tytan,
And an ancient presence deep in the earth has awoken.

The banished prince has returned for his inheritance in the chaos following the Battle of Corwyn’s Cavern, as King Rhivven struggles to maintain control over his stolen domain.

Mages across Tytan are abducted and forced to cross over. Viren is left defenseless. And the red brothers have rebelled against their orders.

Fortunately, there’s one crew who can take on the impossible.

With enemies all around, Fig, Dev, Mairead, and Vaelor are forced to tap into powers they didn’t know they could access.

Because if they don’t, they won’t simply fail. The entire continent will fall.

The epic conclusion to the Legends of Gold and Silver Series, an epic fantasy series full of hopeful determination featuring a ragtag cast of mages, dwarves, dragonets, and dryads in a sprawling saga of twisty politics, magic, and myth.

By Julia Kitvaria Sarene

Julia Kitvaria Sarene, a Munich native with an unmistakable love for all things fantasy, spent a solid 21 years working as a bookseller. During that time, she became a veritable wizard of book recommendations, guiding countless customers to their next literary adventure. In fact, if you ever walked into a bookshop and heard a voice telling you, “You’ll love this one,” you were probably in her domain. Her heart beats for fantasy novels, but don’t try to talk her into romance. She’s far too busy exploring epic worlds where dragons are more common than love triangles. As a reviewer for Fantasy Faction, Julia brings her enthusiasm and humor to older books as well as the latest fantasy releases, trying to help readers navigate the realm of swords, magic, and supernatural wonders. When she’s not nose-deep in a book or battling the occasional villainous creature on paper, Julia can be found out in the wilds, either running, hiking, or practicing traditional archery. Yes, she’s one of those rare individuals who can probably lose an arrow while discussing the latest fantasy tome. (Loose as in go looking for it, rather than shoot, as she has much more love than talent for archery.) Her adventure doesn’t stop there, she’s also a proud owner of a cute black rescue dog who’s probably the only one who truly understands the complexities of her ever-growing book collection. And if you think her book obsession is a problem, think again. Julia’s collection has reached legendary proportions. She buys more books than any one person can read in a lifetime. No such thing as “too many” books in her world. Since her eyesight is on the decline (a tragic side effect of loving books a little too much), she’s a devoted fan of audiobooks, embracing the power of storytelling in every possible format. So, whether she’s running through forests, reviewing fantasy novels, or playing with Galli, Julia is living proof that life is too short to not enjoy a good adventure, be it in the real world or between the pages of a fantastical story.
