An excellent blend of action, world-building, humor, and heart.
This was my favourite of the SPFBO books by quite some distance. It’s a powerful story about outsiders, how they try to fit in, and how they are treated.
The plot starts with a classic fantasy trope but quickly deepens into something more complex, balancing humor, action, and reflective moments.
The tone and voice easily hooked me to the end. More like this please!
It's perfect for fans of Scales and Sensibility by Stephanie Burgis, or really everyone who loves a Jane Austen like setting with a fabulous female MC and dragons!

In really enjoyed how the darker bits of the book were handled. Traumatic experiences actually have repercussions, and loss isn't just forgotten two seconds later.
