This is a traditional quest fantasy with some cool original ideas, plenty of action, strong characters and humour. In other words, something most fantasy-loving kids are going to enjoy.
I liked how the topics were just taken on straight forward, no big philosophical thoughts about it, but also not taken as a given.
It's perfect for fans of Scales and Sensibility by Stephanie Burgis, or really everyone who loves a Jane Austen like setting with a fabulous female MC and dragons!
There's plenty of banter and fun along the guts and gore, which makes it a very entertaining and satisfying read, from start to finish!

It is a great mix of murder mystery, historical sapphic romance, fantasy / mythology blend and family issues.
I would definitely highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys an epic fantasy that feels like one of the classics, but has a way more modern and quick style!
As so often with anthologies, When Swords Fall Silent has some stories I loved, some I liked, and one that didn't really work for me.
