Happy December everyone! It’s been a long year, but we finally made it to the end of 2020!
To celebrate the holiday season the staff at Fantasy-Faction have prepared a little treat! Every Monday and Friday for the rest of the month, we will feature a piece of microfiction from one of our contributors.
To kick it off today, we have Richard Marpole and is his very microfiction piece, “Scientific Romances”.

“Scientific Romances”
Stars
Sweetheart, last night I told the stars above that you were my one true love.
The stars, being massive balls of exploding hydrogen many, many millions of miles away, did not comment on this information.
Heart
My darling. I’m writing you to beg you to be careful with my heart.
The surgery is tomorrow, and I know how nervous you are about operating on someone you’re in a relationship with.
Hand
It’s okay honey. Don’t cry. Just take my hand and everything will be ok.
You’ll need it to bypass the fingerprint scanner on the bunker. You can hide there while I hold them off.
Face
Baby. Yesterday you came to see me.
When I opened the door and our eyes met, your face lit up.
It made me realise something that I’ve been trying to deny for so long now.
You’re a robot infiltrator sent to destroy me!
I have fled the country and taken a new name. You’ll never find me, you laser-eyed, metal fiend!
P.S. We will always have Paris.

Thanks to Richard for sharing this story with us! And thanks to you, reader, for reading it! 🙂
Stay tuned for more microfiction and some other fun surprises later in the month!
Fantasy-Faction is 10! To celebrate we are running a charity drive to help more people discover the joys of reading. If you are interested in helping out, please check out the full article here!
