David Gemmell Awards – 2014 Longlist Revealed & Voting Open

The Longlists for the David Gemmell Awards has been revealed and voting has opened!!!

Ravenheart Award Winner - Patrick Rothfuss's The Wise Man's FearFor those unfamiliar with how The David Gemmell Awards work, the first stage (that has resulted in this longlist) is where publishers nominate titles they think should be considered for the three award categories: best book, best debut and best cover. Once a sizeable list has been created, polls open and genre fans all around the world get to vote on which books they’d like to see pass through into the next round and enter into the shortlist. A few months later the top five books in each category are put into that shortlist and fans are once again invited to vote on their favourite. The winners are then announced at an annual award ceremony and presented with some pretty fricken awesome trophies.

Longlist for 2014’s David Gemmell Legend Award

The Legend Award is the highlight of the nights events at our Award Ceremony where the winner of the book voted best release of the year is presented with a unique, scale model of Snaga (the legendary axe of Druss the Legend) from Raven Armoury. The blades of the axe are laser-etched with the winner’s name & novel.

The Morningstar Award is to celebrate the newcomers to the fantasy genre, whose first book published in English will fight it out amongst the other young bloods to be crowned the fans undisputed New Blood Fantasy Champion.
