Corin Hayes Omnibus is out today! You can get your copy here!
Fantasy-Faction is pleased as pop to announce that our own G. R. Matthews is putting out an omnibus of his first three Corin Hayes books! And he is letting us do the cover reveal! 😀
For those of you not in the know, the Corin Hayes series follow the titular Corin as he reluctantly navigates his far-future underwater world, to varying levels of success. Here’s the official blurb for the omnibus, which includes Silent City, Nothing is Ever Simple, and Three Times the Trouble:
“At the bottom of the ocean, a former special forces pilot of the most advanced diving suit ever developed, possesses skills that are still much in demand. However, at the bottom of a beer glass there is only a blessed oblivion to drive the memories away.
The face of a murdered daughter, the corpses of friends, and the last glimpse of a happy life as the light slowly dims. Corin Hayes has nothing left, nothing to live for, and no one to share his misery. Nothing, that is, except a stubborn streak wider than the ocean and sarcasm sharper than a scalpel.
But all good things must come to an end, and in the sacred solitude of his favourite drinking hole a beautiful woman presents him with an offer he’d be a fool to turn down. Perhaps a job, the chance to earn real money, the opportunity to be useful once more, might redeem his life and self-respect.
However, in the world beneath the waves there is no such thing as an easy life and Hayes is about to discover that some jobs can be real killers.”
The books have received lots of praise, so we are all excited to be a part of this omnibus release! Don’t believe me? Well you don’t have to take my word for it. 😉

And now I will turn the reigns over to Mr. Matthews himself and let him tell you a bit more about his series and its new cover!
The original cover to Silent City (Corin Hayes #1) was always eye-catching enough, but the omnibus needed something different.
How to encapsulate three books in one image? It can’t be too specific, it can’t be too vague. Somehow it must hint at the wider world, the scope of the books, and yet appeal to eye of any potential buyer.
“Stubbornness isn’t a choice, it’s a way of life.” – Corin Hayes
The cover (presented for your delight here) of the Corin Hayes Omnibus does that for me—well, it would, wouldn’t it. I mean. I am biased—you didn’t expect anything else.
I was drawn to this because, firstly, it is blue.
What do you mean that isn’t enough? All right, Corin’s world is at the bottom of the ocean, sometime in the future when mankind has been forced from the surface and struggles to survive in pressurised domes, boxes, and habitats. All the while, the Corporations who own their lives, the very air they breathe, struggle for supremacy in a dark world of submarines, clandestine wars, and crime. So, the colour works—it evokes the ocean waters.
Often it is the simple ideas that work the best.
“If you’ve ever taken a sub, you’ll know they have available every luxury item the weary traveller could ever wish to purchase. Drinks, food, perfumes, clothes, blankets, anything. These compartments weren’t empty, but I doubt the weary traveller was really in the market for a selection of low and high-powered pistols, assault rifles, armour piercing rounds and the variety of explosive devices on offer. Unless they were on the way to a Christmas family get-together.” – Corin Hayes
And then there is the idea that this world is still being built, half-constructed, sometimes in a rush, to provide a shell in which humanity can recover, exist and eventually flourish. The dome which rises to its apex on the cover, the futuristic nature of the design and there, right at the bottom, is that Corin? Looking up to the ceiling and dreaming of the world beyond?
It might be.
Either and anyway, I like it. I hope you do too!

Hello, I like the book cover. I looks the bluish tones make the scene to look peaceful while the machines in the back provide some kind of intrigue. Definitely a beautiful cover in my opinion.
