We learn new Star Wars character names…

Get ready to meet Finn, Rey, Kylo and Poe. No… they’re not Teletubbies, they’re the characters we’ll be meeting in 2015’s new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, produced by J.J. Abrams.

The names of the characters played by John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe) and Daisy Ridley (Rey) were revealed via some retro style playing cards in a nod to the 1970’s style cards that were floating about when the original movies were released. We also learned the name of that soccer-ball like droid too, it’s BB:8, and the Sith Lord: Kylo.

In terms of clues there’s little there. Perhaps the biggest one is that John Beyega’s character, Finn, is said to be ‘on the run’, which would agree with suspicions of fans that he was not really a stormtrooper, but disguised as one.

  1. Let’s assume they are keeping the same naming convention for Sith Lords as using part of a super scary word (in-sidious, in-vader, tyranus-arus). The only thing I can think of is Darth Kylo is short for ankylosing spondylitis. It’s a kind arthritis in the spine that can actually fuse the vertebrae together. Terribly painful.

  2. I hate to be the downer here, but those names… are awful.

My expectations for The Force Awakens are essentially 0. Everything revealed about them thus far screams of the Prequel films, if not, (somehow) worse.
