Well, we knew it would be around this kind of time, but during a press tour HBO have announced that the fourth series of Game of Thrones will hit HBO screens on 6 April 2014 (USA) and Sky Atlantic on 9 April 2014 (UK).

Additionally, the first trailer of the new season will be unveiled on Sunday (12 January 2014), alongside the series premiere of HBO’s highly anticipated crime series, “True Detective.” Brits… I’ll try find us a yotube link shortly after! 😀

After the numerous deaths of major characters in season 3 of Game of Thrones, the cast for the fourth season will include a fair few new additions including: Mark Gatiss (Sherlock), Joel Fry (Trollied, Plebs), Roger Ashton-Griffiths (Gangs of New York), Indira Varma (What Remains, Luther) and Pedro Pascal (Homeland, The Good Wife), who will play Prince Oberyn Martell – aka The Red Viper.

This seems to suggest, as expected, that series four will cover the whole of the second half of A Storm of Swords, the third volume in the book series.

A couple of interesting statistics that have come to my attention during this Press tour: One is that it has won 32 major awards (including BAFTAs, Golden Globes and Emmys) and two is that the final episode of the third series of Games of Thrones was the most pirated TV show ever. None all that useful to you guys, but interesting none-the-less, right? 😛
