Someone somewhere is feeling generous, because right now Assassin’s Apprentice by Robinh Hobb is completely free on the Amazon Kindle in the UK.
So far no word on why (that I can find), but we’re presuming it is just to turn even more readers towards Hobb’s books and, especially her new series – that begins with The Fool’s Assassin – something we completely support, of course! Then again, perhaps it’s just the lovely people over at Harper Voyager being… well… lovely… which is equally possible too 🙂
Anyway, here’s that link:

If you’re not sure whether to pick it up, check out our review here.

Update:
On reflection, it is probably because people with iPads and iPhones are getting it for free, so Kindle are following suit. Check out this recent message from Robin:
Now my other reminder is for folks in the UK who are purchasing new iPads or iPhones or really anything with the new iOS8 on them. You get Assassin’s Apprentice for free. This will not go on forever, so if it’s something you want, better get after it now. And in the US? Those lucky people get Brandon Sanderson’s The Way of Kings! As I’m in the US, if I try to put up a link, it will not take people to the correct UK iBooks site. But I’m sure you can all find it easily if you try.
Well, whoever is responsible – thank you! ^_^
