Fantasy-Faction Anthology – Website Visitor Edition

Next week we will be getting the first delivery of our Fantasy-Faction Anthology!

This first edition print is a special edition that we will be making available just to you guys, Fantasy-Faction’s Website and Forum users, a month before the ISBN editions (both ebook and print) are launched and distributed. Here’s what’s inside:

From award winning website, Fantasy-Faction, comes an anthology of short stories and articles celebrating the fantasy genre’s diversity. Dragons, magic, clones, portals and swords are just some of what awaits you on the quests and investigations within. Written by a combination of genre giants and previously unpublished authors, this is Fantasy-Faction in a book.

The reason we have created this edition is because we wanted to make sure that Fantasy-Faction users had the opportunity to own our anthology before anyone else. For those who don’t know the story the anthology is made up of six contest winners and the rest are short stories and articles by professional authors. NONE OF THE PROFESSIONAL AUTHORS WERE PAID FOR THEIR WORK. They all donated stories and articles to us to support our site! (Which isn’t cheap to run and which, a few years back, was struggling to cover costs.) Fantasy-Faction’s popularity and reputation meant all these writers were more than willing to help and essentially means you guys made this whole project possible. Without you all this never would never have happened. You guys visit us regularly, talk about us, recommend us, retweet us, comment on our articles and reviews, and it truly means so much.

As you all know, and as with all things Fantasy-Faction, this whole project is not for profit. All we want to do is cover our costs and HOPEFULLY make enough to fund the server costs and another writing contest in the future. For that reason we are only asking cost price for this anthology of £7.00 + P&P of £2.80 (in the US and Canada $12.00 + shipping & handling of $4.50) and leave it up to you if you’d like to pay anything extra towards the site/future projects in form of a donation – I’m kind of reluctant to call it ‘pay what you like’, because we have to cover costs, you see. Oh, and if you are coming to our Grim Gathering and would like a copy then I can bring it with me and you can skip the postage. 🙂

Oh, you want to see the cover? Well, here’s the beautiful proof edition cover I received a few days back, I’m guessing the final version will be almost identical:

Finally, I’d just like to say that this has been one heck of a ride and one heck of a learning experience. Putting together an anthology is so, so much more difficult than we expected, but even more rewarding too. We really hope that you enjoy reading what we have all created. Truly, we think this anthology represents our community superbly – it’s fun, it’s fantastical and it’s diverse!

In total we have just 100 special edition copies of this anthology: 50 in the UK and 50 in the US. Also, of course, if you have already preordered then a copy should be on its way to you when we get these website editions in. 🙂

Again, thank you so much for taking an interest in this project; every order placed will support Fantasy-Faction and keeping this community we all love so much online and growing 🙂

  1. Booya, bought and paid looking forwards to this.

One comment, why the change in cover design? I like the new one – can never go wrong with dragons – but the original with the steampunkesque guy as well was kinda cool.

    Roll on Fantasy Contest II

    1. While we did like the original artwork, it didn’t fit the theme of the anthology as well as we liked. However, there may be guns and dragons in a future anthology. 😉

  2. Hi Marc

I’d love to order one of these but wont be able to for about a week. Is there any chance I can have one put aside? Or you could give us an idea based on interest of when the US editions will be gone? Thanks Marc

    1. The ISBN edition will have a barcode covering some of the cover, will cost a little bit more, will be out a month later and the UK edition will feature one less story. Not a huge difference – we just wanted to give our readers an early edition of the book as we felt they deserved it first! 🙂

  3. LOVE this cover!! If I’d seen the cover before knowing about the anthology, would have begged, borrowed, though perhaps not stolen to get it on my shelf. 😀

  4. Unfortunately, V Shashank and Eloy we won’t be able to send the first edition out to countries outside the UK, the US, and Canada. It was much too expensive to ship. But we will have the ebook up in the near future and possibly a print on demand version that will ship directly worldwide (we’re still looking into that).

  5. I have ordered a copy, despite payday being 3 weeks away. Worst comes to worst, I can simply eat the pages right? 😉 I mainly ordered because this is such a great site- well done to you for putting this together, and kudos to the generous authors donating their work.

  6. Congratulations it looks wonderful. Was so excited I ordered before knowing no shipping yet to Oz. Please keep my order alive until you can and one day I will have surprise parcel.

  7. Ordered – been waiting on this since I saw it announced. Wish I could have gotten a signed copy, but alas – America! Thanks again.

  8. I will pay 15 (GBP) if you can send it to Australia (VIC).

Getting tired of living in the sticks, what with all these exclusive book offers
