Today we’re really excited to reveal the cover of Forging A Nightmare by Patricia A. Jackson! A new urban fantasy, “with a black-led cast, this biblical, mythological retelling, is Rivers of London meets American Gods.” What is it about? Let’s take a look!

FBI agent Michael Childs is tasked with tracking down a serial killer with an obsession for victims born with twelve fingers and toes. But he discovers something much more startling about himself.

The only link between a series of grisly murders in New York City is the victims were all born with twelve fingers and twelve toes. These people are known in occult circles as the Nephilim, a forsaken people, descendants of fallen angels.

After a break in the case leads to supposedly killed-in-action Marine sniper, Anaba Raines, Michael finds the soldier alive and well, but shockingly no longer human. Michael then discovers he is also a Nephilim, and next on the killer’s list.

Everything Michael once thought of as myth and magic starts to blur the lines of his reality, forcing him to accept a new fate to save the innocent, or die trying.

Ready for the cover? Here it is!

Forging a Nightmare (cover)

Gorgeous right? Notice the dark horse with the mane of glowing green? (I mean how could you not?) Well, Jackson, is not only one of Angry Robot’s newest authors, she is also an equestrian who does hunter/jumper competitions! Horses are a classic inclusion in fantasy stories, though not often seen in the urban fantasy subgenre. So, I can’t wait to see how Jackson’s background with horses brings this amazing steed into her story!

Forging A Nightmare is due out from Angry Robot on November 23, 2021! You can learn more about it and Jackson’s other works on her website and follow her on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!
