Well, I don’t think any of these SFF related news pieces are big or exclusive enough to warrant their own individual posts, but it seems this weekend has been chosen by movie studios to release lots of cool news.
Everyone’s favourite Marvel villain to get his own movie
Marvel and its Spiderman star, Andrew Garfield, recently said that they only plan to work a trilogy of spiderman movies together and yet, just a few days later, they revealed they intended to work on as many as 5 films in the spiderman universe by the year 2020.
Well, rather than getting a new actor, it seems that Marvel are planning on doing something interesting over the next couple of films, they’ve said they intend to: “expand the universe for the brand and to develop a continuous tone and thread throughout the films,” but what exactly does that mean?
It seems that Marvel’s team of superstar writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon and Drew Goddard will make this ‘their Avengers’ by working on a large-scale story that will encompass several films. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that: Kurtzman, Orci and Solomon will write Venom, centered on the black costumed villain that already made his big screen debut in the third Spider-Man movie of the Sam Raimi trillogy, that Kurtzman will direct. Goddard, meanwhile, will write, with an eye to direct, The Sinister Six, which will focus on Spider-Man’s villains.
Game Of Throne Star set for new Terminator role
Our favourite fantasy beauty, Daenerys Targaryen star Emilia Clark, is set to star as Sarah Connor in a new trilogy of Terminator films; Jason Clarke is John Connor, Tom Hardy is Prototype and Arnie is set to star in it as well 🙂 Also worth noting is that there will be a new TV series that will follow the first film and it has been suggested will work as a spinoff.
WorldWar Z has a sequel coming…
Many Factioners were pleasantly surprised by the WorldWar Z movie and it seems Hollywood listened to our desire for more… Well, that and the lure of another $202 million domestic gross $540 million worldwide gross that it earned the studio.
Jupiter Ascending Trailer
What could be one of the greatest stand-alone Sci-Fi movies of the decade, Jupiter Ascending, finally has a trailer. In a universe where humans are near the bottom of the evolutionary ladder, a young destitute human woman is targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe because her very existence threatens to end the Queen’s reign:
Planet of the Apes Sequel Poster
The first poster for Matt Reeves’ Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes has been released and we’ve heard rumours the trailer will air before Christmas too! Also worth noting is that the movie has been moved forward in the US, to July 11th 2014 (the slot that was held by Fast & Furious 7, which is now expected to be delayed due to the death of one of its stars).

Well, that’s it for now! Some cool stuff in there to look forward to in 2014, 2015 right up until 2020 😉
