I always have to spell out my real name and people regularly misspronounce it when they read it. And that's other Germans. I really wouldn't want to see what horrible things native English speakers would do with it.
But conveniently, my second name can also pass as a family name. And in addition to still being my own actual name, Martin Christopher probably evokes associations with various known people.  ;)

Haha @Henry Dale I've been making my friend re-watch all of FMA Brotherhood with me, and we're almost to that part where King Bradley chops a tank in half with his sword.

So I guess I will put my Darewood porn career on halt then, since it's not the right name for that!

What does anyone think of changing my name to "JR Kingswood"?  It sounds much more fantasy-writer to me and it has the added benefit of shortening to JeRK :)

The Kingswood was an incredibly iconic Australian car so my kneejerk response was "yeah, nah mate". ;)

^^ Agree w Cupiscent. But on the other hand, Brad, large, two toned, accommodating and fairly fast?

Like our first Australian car, 1970 HG Holden Kingswood. We had far more battered version in 1973 and I think it cost a staggering $1500. Had masses of room and big bench seats, no seatbelts, so you slid across when cornering. Used about 14 litres petrol to 100km. But petrol was only 13.2 cents a litre (60cper gallon).

I have been skipping the gym and gaining weight lately,  and the farmer's tan makes for 2 tones....

I note you're not commenting on the "accommodating and fast" aspects. ;)

"Well that was fast!" said no one about me ever.

Uggh I really feel like I should change it but I royally suck at naming characters, much less myself.

Bradley Hardwood
Bradley Longwood
Bradley 'The Wood' Johnson (well you knew where this came from)

 ;D

Seriously though, I know about the pain of your native name not fitting as a writer's pen name. My native name is so complex that most English speakers (and foreigners from any other countries, for that matter), are never able to spell my name right. So I just abbreviated it to their first letters, S & K, and add in a made up last name.

Hmmm... How about
 Bradley Fairwood or
 Bradley Draftwould
The second one is weird but has a writing meaning.

An image of a gun-slinging cowboy somehow came to my mind with that. Besides, it's a pen name, though. They didn't have to make sense... do they?  ;D
