Older Fantasy Adventure Group

I am currently working on a novel, let me say revising said novel. Working on doing a change as far as the characters in the group. Mostly all fantasy adventure groups are made up of so called young adventures and a older magic user.

My story centers around a group that each character has to handle and deal with his own version of sin and corresponding virtue. Instead of using young type adventures decided to go with middle age, so called seasoned adventures that have all met up for one last grand adventure.

Each carries his or her own version of sin/virtue to deal with, and more experience in battle/adventuring. In other words "1/2 doz older dirty dozen "

Has anybody hear of this been done or read of it? The end result is gathering of  scared article and dragon battle. Just looking for some info/ feedback on idea. Thanks in advance.

I think there's a lot of room for stories like this as the Fantasy audience ages. (I'm 53 and have been reading the genre since elementary school.)

You might want to check out A Crown for Cold Silver. A band of old warriors reunites for one last push for power... but there are as many motives as there are heroes. Just recently published, and the only one I can think of that sounds in the vein of your idea.

Sounds like a great idea. There could be animosity between characters from years past or friendship that go back to childhood. The characters would have much more experience to draw from. You could even have them put a group of young adventurers in their place.
