I just looked up the music from Interstellar out of a hunch. (Though I am a big Nolan-fan, I've not seen it yet.) Whee, that's the good stuff!
I think I could easily get half a dozen story plots out of that.
And my neighbours just went on two week vacation yesterday, so I can really enjoy the huge range in volumes at full effect.
Hans Zimmer does amazing stuff! The soundtrack from Inception was already amazing, but Interstellar... That was something else. Honestly I used to listen to it a lot, but I can't too much because it brings tears to my eyes...
I LOVE the track when Dammon fights McConaughey..
Here are some of my all time favorite tracks that all help while writing :

Cult minimalist piece, that speaks more in the silences than its notes. Piano only, incredible work overall.

Best violin concerto in existence, though some thing that the version played by Sarah Chang is better, this one is my classic. The violin is such an incredible voice, I usually get trapped watching the entire video like it's some kind of crazy action movie.

Best piano concerto ever, hands down. It's only the first movement, and Cherkin's adaptation isn't the closest to the original intention of Rachmaninoff (this we know, since a recording of Rachmaninoff playing himself the piano exists!) so check out the rest if you like it. Others might enjoy Rubinstein's version more :

If you guys liked that Conan song, and want some explosive epic stuff yet don't know O Fortuna... Then you're about to be blown away.

Like many other great artists, Boccerini made great music I can listen to without thinking, this is one of them, I can always go back to and forget it's there until some particularly brilliant moments pull me away.

I have the biggest crush on Karajan ever. He's so hot and sexy (was and stayed so!) he's such a fiery interpreter as well! Listen to him explode through the damnation of Faust!

For all the ghibli fan, here's Joe Hisaichi playing his track Madness with him on the piano and 9 cellos!

For those of you who might dig super intense and cataclismical music with lots of bass dropping before the age of electronic music, all these tracks are superb classics. Verdi's Dies Irae is my favorite of them, but I don't listen to it while writing, too intense!
Prokofiev is also too intense for my writing but it's so very visual... Star Wars probably got a bit inspired by that track.
Third track... You all know it. I dedicate it to all the people who post their Monthly Stories at the last minute, I'm sure they'll recognise themselves *cough*.
I'm stopping here and not even including my favorite tracks, since I could go on for pages and pages...

Yes I recommend the entire album! It's ambient music and I really like their work, it's what I listen to the most these days.

Great song, african lyrics let you focus without distraction, I love it.

Just trippy and energetic, a little adventure to listen to!

Minimalistic, with lyrics in farsi I believe. It's what I listened to the most while writing my wendigo story.

Angry french techno piece, melodic for its style.

Minimalistic and cyclic, I also like from stimming the tracks Fruits of Life, and Funkworm.

Solid old time favorite, listen to it a lot while I go about and get ideas down.

Smooth harmonica and bluesey tunes, for writing your cops n killas.

Lyrics in spanish, if that doesn't disturb you. Love its tribal feeling.

Louie Gonnie! Gotta love his peyote songs! I even love the ones he made with no instrumental, such amazing voice and simple, pure rhythms... I listen to that a lot these days.

Totally eerie, when you consider this is called "the snake" - how appropriate right? Best percussion artist in my knowledge, if you think you know someone who can beat him, please share. All his work is brilliant.

Trippy "space drum"... All is said.
