Now nearly at 50% editing in the annotations on "The Mission's Talent". I'm marking places with a ¬ and a comment were stuff needs added or a major rewrite. I'll Save and then Save As a version increment after doing the annotations.

Really hard with worst gritty eyes ever from hay fever. Not so bad today though.

I'm on Part 5 of 5 of rewrites/edits in my second book. It's a slow process, but I'm getting to the part about the desert tribes and a bit of their culture, which will be fun. I already wrote a myth for one of the tribes, which is thematically related to my main characters and the climax of the story.

I've switched modes to short fiction to see how that goes, and so far I'm putting out 500-1500 words a day. The hardest part is judging pacing and coming up with ideas that fit into a shorter word count. Still, I'm enjoying the change of pace and it's all honing my style, I suppose.

Finished a novel draft! Finally. Been working on it since January, technically a revision but involved rewriting the majority of the manuscript. I still need to do another round of revisions to smooth out the arcs and flow, but that should hopefully be much quicker.

It's always good to finish off a draft :) That feeling of accomplishment and relief!

Fleshing out a rough scene in my journal. I always like to tackle a first draft by hand before typing it up. Somehow traditional methods help the creativity flow.

2571 words today. Not a bad start to the new WIP.

Not writing but deep in the second edit of the current novel. Trying to keep up a steady pace of about ten pages a day but editing is hard work. It doesn't help that the old writerly demon of self-doubt is never far away but occasionally I'll read a bit and think "That's not half bad!".

I've probably got through about half my own body weight in tea, toast, cakes and biscuits as well and I'm only at about page 100 of 300.

Back to averaging a 1000 words a day. Not quite as much as I'd like, but at least the going is steady.

Reached the 30k point yesterday. I'm really not feeling the current WIP, but I intend to see it through to the end in case I can salvage bits of it.
