Sent it off to a primary reader... waiting for feedback.

You get feedback *before* you submit a story?

That's brilliant!

You have fiends too? How come everyone seems to have them?

Nice! We've probably written twice that in the last few days.

...but it's all been multiple rewrites of the same damn scene. Dialogue can really suck.  >:(

It's funny. I find dialogue the easiest thing to write and action the hardest.

Depends on the situation for us. Sometimes the dialogue just happens, and it's easier than anything else. When it doesn't do that, it's impossible to get it right. Think we needed to take a step back and work out what was wrong with it or something.  :-\

^^ This.

Dialogue can spill out pages at a time as easily as sitting and talking to someone, or it can be the most frustrating thing in the world where every line comes out stilted and wrong.

Just 422 today, but I've got editing to do, and some non-fic RPG writing to do today as well.

A bit over 4,000 during the weekend. Completed my first ever complete short story over 1,750 words, and only the second outside the monthly contest.

Well, "completed" draft 1. Now I need to practice my craft (such as it is) and actually go for a real re-work, not just wordsmithing.

23k so far on a new story in the last week (first 840 word character sketch on 9/8) plus a 3.4k short police procedural I had to write to figure out how to resolve the Act I crisis.  Looking like it might be my first novel-length story.  Woohoo!

Hmmm. 4 words today. Not optimal.
