Book 2 type up is done!  Yay!  It feels so good to have that in the computer and not just on paper.  I'm off to celebrate by playing Lego LOTR.

Yesterday, I finally got around to finishing up and sending off a 6000+ short story for a competition that I spent most of this month working on. Today, I've managed to convince myself that what I sent was complete and utter drek and I have no chance of winning.

We've written about 1000 so far today, most for this month's short story but a few paragraphs each for our main WIP and something else we've just started. Feels very odd to have three projects on at once, but it's actually working well so far. Hopefully we'll have some more time to add some more this evening.  :)

Got a bit of editing done at work.  Book 1's turning into a real beast.  Might get some more editing in later.

When I see everyone wrapping up their books or sending 6k+ competition writings it almost humbles me, but almost only...

Just finished my Wendigo short story, at around 2400 words only, after almost two months of dedication!!!! I'm losing my shit I'm so happy! The ending came out to me out of no where as I was listening to native indian pow wows and starring through space!

Now at last I'm free to have it widely reviewed and to lazily polish it off before submission, and more importantly, to speed-read all the last month submissions and write my own dank short story for this month.  8)

I love it when the ending just hits you like that. The same thing happened with the first Realmspace book. I was chugging along, going one way and then one morning, it was like, what if this happened?

Yeah, it was exactly like that. And my story is first person, but I still have some distance with my character, I'm not really in her head, so I still struggled to figure out how she'd phrase things, but last night, it was just as if she'd spoken to me in my head.

Got a few pages edited today!  I've been doing the first four chapters old fashioned style, printed out on loose leaf and scribbling all over my messy prose.  Good fun.  I showed my students and they thought it was the coolest thing that I'm writing a novel.

I'm wondering if that counts as "avoiding writing"?  ;)

I'm actually in editing/rewriting mode, so I'll just say I've now redone 19, 704 words total (I am not sure on the actual length, because I may still be cutting; I know I've cut a good 5-10,000 words, but I tend to add at least as much as I cut, so we'll see).
