I saw a similar thread on another writing forum, and loved the idea. Since the most important part of being a writer is actually writing, holding oneself accountable for regularly putting out words tends to be important

. Plus public guilt/praise can be powerful tools.

Obviously everyone writes at their own rate mixed with real world constraints, so comparing WCs is silly, but steady progress is something we should all search for when possible. A sword is crafted one hammer strike at a time, after all.
Personally I wrote just under 2k today, after too long without doing any serious writing. Better, the writing felt good. I'll go back and read it tomorrow before I start the next scene to make sure I have the flow right, and maybe make SLIGHT tweaks.
