Fantasy-Faction NaNoWriMo Group.........
« on: September 30, 2015, 12:18:01 PM »
Fantasy-Faction will be running a NaNoWriMo Group this November. Those taking part will have 30 days to write 50,000 words.

The Fantasy-Faction group will be open to everyone who is writing a Young Adult, Science-Fiction or Fantasy novel in this time.

Those who sign up will be invited into a Secret Facebook Group and an IRC Channel. The aim is to offer a support network and to keep as many people on the bandwagon as possible. Additionally, it would be great if we could help make some life-long friendships.

If you would like to join in please leave a comment here with a brief summary of the novel that you will be working on.

I plan to open the group up on October 14th so that users can begin chatting and talking about their plotting / etc.

I've chosen to do this away from the Forums this year because we have some users working very hard on the writing group section and I don't want to pull people away from that or take any focus away from it. It seems to be going very well. Instead, I'll try and report back to the forums with an update as to how the F-F Group is getting on :)

I love the idea of linking NaNoWriMo and F-F; and while I'm involved in the Forum writing groups, I'm going to give some thought about whether to join in this as well.

As always, Marc, it's exciting to see F-F keep developing what it can do for fans and writers.

Ooh. That's a good point.  I'm starting the Writing Group in October,  so also starting the NaNoWriMo Group in November might be challenging.

But I do have two story ideas in my Ideas backlog that would work for NaNoWriMo... and a good backlog of stuff it would be fun to have critiqued by the Group...

Decisions, decisions...

I had a fantastic time doing NaNo last year - got myself a completed first-draft of about 68k words on a YA fantasy - and I would love to do it again this year... if only I wasn't due to give birth in mid-October! Something tells me I'm going to have a project slightly more demanding than 50k words on my hands in November. ;)

But I do encourage others to give it a go. My biggest piece of advice is: let yourself suck! Just get the words down, you can always fix them later.

I've done NaNo for the past two years.  I don't know what this year's gonna be like with university application deadlines, but I want to participate nonetheless.

Oh no. The writing month with the fiddly name. I won't do it, I won't do it, I won't do it. :( :(

*does it anyway*

*prepares for disappointment*

Ooh, exciting! I haven't done NaNoWriMo before. Quick question - will the group members be reading each other's work? Cause if I participate I won't be doing it in English. Other than that, I'd gladly join, if I manage to free enough time next month (and get my head straight...).

NaNoWriMo sounds fun, but we don't use Facebook so I guess we'll have to do it on our own. Or try to do it at least!

I'd be up for this so please do add me into the facebook group once it's all set up :)

My project: 'Add Brimstone To Taste' It's about a demon who just wants to be a baker, but when he's given the chance he finds out that his superiors have other plans for him.

Does the Demon want to be a part of the 'Great Demon Bake-Off'?

I've been thinking of doing nanowrimo this year (1st time), if I get permission. Got a new book the needs to get off the ground, sort of a Three Musketeers adventure but with samurai and a bit of Hitchcock thrown in if I can manage it, ha! Trying first person narration for the first time, too, and I think it's working...

Anyway, I'll let y'all know if I can clear time in the schedule. My previous best pace is nearer 1000 words/day so I can appreciate the scale of the challenge.

I would like to join in on this.

working title is " Huntress"

Generations ago strange beings invaded the planet. at first they seemed instoppable, yet the war came to a screeching halt, with no side winning, or losing ground. Once the Huntress was a commanding officer on the frontlines, until she deserted her post. She firmly believes that the answers to ending this war are not found on the battlefield, but in the ruined cities that first fell to the invaders. Ruined cities that are currently a no man's land between the two opposing forces.
