I must be one of the few who enjoyed the novel, I would have liked to see what was happening on the other side of the gates through maybe we see that in later books?

I loved the final Light Versus Shadow magic battle between the princes with Jieret stopping Arithon at the last minute

and the last stand at the tree with Madreigh

Arithon taking care of the bodies, the ballad of Falmuir

Arithon took up his apprenticeship with the bard  :)

Has Arithon lost his magic for the time being and that's why the scrying on him doesn't work?

Didn't particularly care for Lysaer last scene I would rather read about a different character not fond of townfolk I guess!

Finished the book (will write posts for this and the last part tomorrow).

I'm not sure I want to read on because I don't want to read about genocide and the butchering of children.
Especially not when we got to know them from previous scenes and one of the two main povs does this atrocity.

Lysaer is dead to me and I hope he dies soon in a lot of pain. This won't happen since he is needed and may redeem/break the curse someday and live on as a  just King for the next five hundred years.
Since reading on like nothing happened is something I can't do at the moment, I'm taking a break from the series.
