The Sci-fi Weekender (formerly the SFX Weekender)

Back for a fourth year in 2013, the The Sci-fi Weekender (formerly the SFX Weekender) promises the ultimate sci-fi experience. It's a festival of fun and activities for people who love science fiction and fantasy

The Sci-fi Weekender is packed with activities for fans: big-name guests, interviews, Q&A sessions, movie screenings, comic workshops, videogaming, music, book readings and plenty more. It's all about bringing like-minded people together for a weekend structured around four pillar events: the entertaining Imaginarium cabaret, the sweeping Maskerade party (with awesome DJing from Craig Charles), and the fiendish Blastermind pub quiz.

The Sci-fi Weekender attendees will get the chance to fully immerse themselves in  sci-fi culture. Fans can discover how comics are made, discuss burning issues with their favourite author, or be among the first to see exclusive screenings of films and TV shows. There are also many autograph opportunities: the full line-up will be revealed over the coming months. Above all, though, it's a chance to hang out with like-minded people and enjoy a few drinks in a safe environment with other fans.

It takes place at haven’s Hafan y Mor Holiday Park in Wales from 1st-3rd March 2013, with a pre-party for early birds on the night of 28 February too. Tickets can be purchased by clicking the button at the top of this page! You can also join our Facebook page.

Alas, no - I have a manuscript to finish for the Robot Overlords, and anyway it's a **** of a long way from East Anglia to North Wales :(

I shall console myself with a visit to PicoCon in London in mid-February...
Elizabethan fantasy trilogy The Alchemist of SoulsThe Merchant of Dreams and The Prince of Lies out now from Angry Robot Books!

Not me. I thought the last one was 'OK', but I don't think I can justify the time to get there, the money it costs and the horrible accommodation again. The fact the Kitschies are in London this year decided it for me.

I can't make it this year (and that'll be no surprise as I haven't gone to it in previous years) mainly because it falls around the same period as  Black Library Live 2013 and I'll be heading up to Nottingham for that. And considering Nottingham's a long way from Devon where I'm currently based, then yeah...

I'm on the website as going, so I expect I should make the effort :D

They've moved to a different site - a more modern one! - so hopefully it should be much improved on last year's ice boxes. Certainly looks a lot better.

I've even got my cossie ready for the Saturday.
