Nine Worlds - 8th through 10th August
« on: January 12, 2014, 10:07:41 PM »
(Also not a thread for this one, so thought I'd get it out there)

The first Nine Worlds convention was last year and it was a hoot - great panels, debates, workshops, sword-fighting classes, gin tastings and costumes.

It is for fandoms of all types - there will be a LOT of great books programming, but that's just one thread, with some great comics, movies, Game of Thones, podcast, Bronies, steampunk, Whedon strands as well. Should be a blast.

The last one must have been the single most fun con I've ever been to.

So very much looking forward to this year. Especially as it won't be in the same hotel (that was the one complaint I heard about the whole thing -- the main hotel was not very accommodating)
My tongue has been in my cheek for so long, I've eroded a new mouth.

I asked on Twitter, but got no response. Will there will be day tickets, and if so, can I buy in advance? I can only make the Sunday (boo!) due to other, immovable commitments. I would definitely like to attend on the Sunday, but not if there's a chance that when I get there all tickets are sold, and I've had a wasted trip.

Anyone know?

I shall be going as well - I had so much fun (did the "water-dancing" workshop with Miltos Yerolemou, and bought a lovely dagger in the dealers' room!) :)
Elizabethan fantasy trilogy The Alchemist of SoulsThe Merchant of Dreams and The Prince of Lies out now from Angry Robot Books!

The answer is "probably" :)

Day tickets are released closer to the event. They just don't know how many, as it depends on how many weekend passes were sold!

There's a good chance I'll be there. Gaie had a great time last year and wants to go again. Thing is, we're already booked for WorldCon(LonCon), and then EuroCon in Dublin, so three cons in three weeks might just break me!

Thank you!

If the kid gets into the composition course she's applying for, I won't have a concert to attend on the Saturday, so I could do the weekend. Am keeping fingers tightly crossed!

I feel your pain! I think FantasyCon, Harrogate and Edinburgh are all at the same time as well? This summer is going to be insane.

Nine Worlds last year was a delight, though, some of the hotel staff were, shall we say, less than entirely helpful.  (I'm sure we were a far nicer - and more interesting - crowd than the usual suited and booted business conventioneers, but there's no pleasing some people).
