I've got a huge tub of 2nd and 3rd ed. books in the attic. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them now though, aside from keep them for nostalgia's sake.

There are some very good "original" D&D blogs out there - folks still running 1e and 2e campaigns. They make me pretty nostalgic, although I barely have enough time to play in the campaigns I'm in already!

Plus, until they update Spelljammer, I can't possibly get rid of any of my precious sourcebooks.

I occasionally miss our older campaigns. Starting with 3rd, and 4th has been a bit worse for this, our group devolved from a good roleplaying group to a group of amoral-silly alignment crazy people--I blame the fact that with the newer editions, it is more difficult to die from stupidity. Don't get me wrong; this can still be fun, but at times I would like to be in a more serious group again.

Okay, I finally went through the stack of AD&D books I was given and found out one of them is an original first printing of the Deities & Demigods book!  The one that included the Cthulhu Mythos before Chaosium sued them for copyright infringement!  And I might have it on eBay if anyone is interested...

Sorry to interrupt, but I thought this was too cool! :D  I had no idea Cthulhu was ever in D&D.  I think that might have changed the game a bit if they had been allowed to keep the mythos in the books.

That's such a cool find! Cthulhu and the... Michael Moorcock stuff. I may bid!

I don't think I could find one particular world that is my One and Only Favourite, but I will rank Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, Paranoia!, and Stargate up there as truly enjoyable.  I have had some good luck with the Firefly RPG as well.

I cannot wait for Kubla Con later this month when I get to indulge in RPG heaven for 3 days.  There's a guy who comes and does Seventh Sea and Stargate with full tabletop sets and dioramas.  Costumes get you points.  :-)

I also think the quality of the RPG depends on the skill of the GM.  I've had some truly boring Forgotten Realm's games.  I remind myself every year to be on the lookout for that GM.

Paranoia! seems a blast, but never played it with a good GM. I'd love to give it a shot.

I've never tried RPGing at a convention. It has taken so long to find a great group of players (and there were so many disasters along the way) that I can't even imagine playing with random people any more. What's it like? Is it just sort of gambling? Or are most people cool?

So if I can find a new job pretty soon I would be interested in that book actually.

I'm partial to Judges Guild Wilderlands of High Fantasy.

Warhammer 40K, man I just love that whole gothic space opera setting that has magic, Lovecraftian and Moorockian weaved throughout it. Malazan will likely be my number one whenever they get round to making it.

I'll join in the necro-posting to second the call for WH40k. There's a lot of very tropic writing but there's also some absolute gems, and the scope of engagements and stories that come out the setting is staggering.

If only they stop ret-conning half the fluff every time they issue a new release of the TT rules!

Iron Kingdoms was the best to come out during the 3E D&D era. If you aren't familiar with it, it is worth a look. I also like Warhammer FRPG and 40K.

I'm not a big gamer but at the moment it's a bit of Pokemon X, Magic (MTG) and Alien Adoption Agency (A3).
Three very different mediums ;D

Currently playing Star Wars Edge of the Empire. Great mechanics and bonus xp for well-timed movie quotes :)

I'd love to play the Dragon Age RPG but my gaming group aren't familiar with the universe so it wouldn't work. (I bought the dice anyway).
