I really love 7 Wonders. MtG is awesome, too, though I haven't bought any new cards recently. I also like Munchkin, and Risk, and Race for the Galaxy, Chaos in the Old World... I have a lot, suffice to say. I believe I have a more complete list in my thread that I started on a similar topic a few months ago; "Favorite Tabletop Games".

We stopped playing MTG for a few years (around the kamigawa set I think?) And recently got suckered right back in.
M14 is out this month and a booster box (or two) *may* have *slipped* into our order cart the other day. Oops? Lol

We're thinking of getting a few friends round and doing a 6booster deck game. - 6 boosters. Build your deck from those (not inc land/mana cards) and see how that works out.

My 8yo *sort of* gets it, the strategy & more complicated rules do confuse him and elude him at times, but generally he's pretty quick with it and can easily give me a good game without much trouble or help needed!!

For those who enjoyed twilight imperium, I think Rex: Final days of an empire might be a good idea.

Set three thousand years before Twilight Imperium, it focuses on the fallof the Lazax and the desperate struggle of six factions for taking control of Mecatol City.

The game is quite simpler than TI (and shorter: usually no more than two and a half/ three hours), while retaining the aura of intrigue and betrayal that could imbue TI so much. This is probably because it's a rework of a dune board game that was originally lunched around 1980.

I can heartily recommend the Discworld set Ankh Morpork game. It's easy to pick up, doesn't take too long to play and is great fun. You neen't be overly familiar with the books (they just make the cards funnier!).
It's a Risk-like game with players (depending upon which random character they draw) each having different rules for winning, so half the game is spent trying to second guess your opponants, whilst trying not to give away your own identity.

For those who are looking for a casual/ filler game, I'd strongly recommend playing Colossal Arena. In this game, you are spectators who place bets on different creatures bent on mortal combat. Each round a creature is eliminated, making those who bet for it lose their money. At the end of the game, the player who earns more bet money wins. It's incredibly fun, very simple to learn but quite difficult to master.

I got the Game of Thrones board game for mothers day. It looks fantastic.  Havent played it yet but got a few friends round for a game on Sunday so will be cracking open some wine and tyrant-ing my way across westeros.  Have pointed out that the discworld game would go nicely with it for xmas... :)

Played the GOT board game. ... so much fun!! I drew lannisters and came second. Quite complicated,  it takes a few turns to get to grips with the rules and turn sequencing but once you've oriented yourself you're off n away. Am looking into getting the AFFC expansion as its specifically for four players which works out perfectly for me and the number of people I know I can entice to play with me. :)

I have this too. It took my friends and I around 3 hours to get the rules down and when we finished we realised we still played it wrong haha.  But it was heaps of fun nonetheless! !

Yeah, with four of us it took about 4hrs total but two of us had never played before.  The AFFC expansion is specifically for 4 players so may play through quicker?  I think it'll be quicker once ive memorised the basic rules.  :)

Did I mention,  FUN!!
