New Release Fantasy Novel - Free Download Today
« on: April 25, 2019, 10:44:53 PM »
My new release fantasy novel, As Fire Is To Gold [Book 1 of the Chronicles of the Ilaroi], is available for FREE DOWNLOAD today.
You may not be aware, but just by downloading a copy that will help me out. Even better if you go on and read it [Note: 85% of people who bought Book 1 have liked it enough to go on to buy Book 2] and a real bonus if you then put a Review on Amazon, BUT JUST DOWNLOADING WILL HELP ME climb the Amazon ratings list.

Just finished it. Spoilering the review, just in case.

Spoiler for Hiden:
+ Writing is polished and narrative taut.
+ A refreshing plot setting.
+ Good mix of action, intrigue and drama

- Rayne/Sara interaction is a teen romance and doesn't really fit in with rest of novel. Feel too Young Adult'ish.
- Book felt like a scene setter for the next book. Would be better if had a self contained story that also furthered the over arching plot. Also the new perspectives (keep fight/Queen counsel) right at end when you are looking for a Grand climax was a major let down.
- The battle between Guardians at the end didn't have any oomph or awe factor. Finishing the book doesn't give you any satisfaction and you just feel left in the middle.
- Not really sure why they just kidnapped Sara, rather than a bunch of people.
- Also the future told by Josef on just wanting destruction without having a purpose just falls flat. What is the purpose?

~ Also they are Guardians of what? Slits are portrayed as tribes and afraid of even a single guardian. So why three? Who was Tanis? Or the Ilaroi? They weren't even introduced properly and that felt like a gap. Perhaps Book 2 will cover it, but they needed more page time in this book to complete the world.

I think this is good enough to entice me to getting Book 2.

And to sum it up a very accomplished final product. I'll definitely keep an eye out for your books.
