The Heron Kings

Hello all, I hope it's okay for my first post to be a blatant self promotion. My debut novel The Heron Kings, a grimdark medieval-ish fantasy, is now out from Flame Tree Press! They're (apparently) too small to do any marketing so it falls to me, though I do not really know how.

In the midst of a brutal dynastic war, Sister Alessia wishes only to heal the wounded. When a vicious warlord forbids her temple stop caring for the 'enemy,' she throws off her bloodstained habit and quits the cloister rather then submit. She unwittingly gathers a band of ragged peasant insurgents around her, including Ulnoth, a grieving family man out for revenge, and Corren, a deserting soldier. Using guerrilla tactics they strike back at the forces of both sides to steal, to survive, and to get some payback. But when proof of a dark conspiracy prolonging the bloodshed falls into their hands, they'll risk all to convince the warlords, mercenaries and spies hunting them to expose the truth and force the war to an end.

Congratulations on your novel! Is it a series? Why do you call it medieval-ish?

Thanks so much! I've sent a sequel to my editor, but it's set a hundred years later so I'm not sure it's a series. A series of standalones maybe. I'm not really sure how to describe it since except for being set in a fictional, vaguely medieval world there are no other fantasy elements, no magic or elves or dragons, etc. Kind of like Robin Hood meets Quentin Tarantino...

That sounds even better! For some reason... I like your concept and your ideas. I really hope you do well. Let me know if you wanna chat about it, how it goes etc. Also I can help you promote the book, once I've read it, of course.

Hi all, I hope it's okay to quickly note that The Heron Kings will be going on sale this Monday. From 21 to 27 September the Kindle eBook will be only 99c/p! So if you're the weird type of person this kind of book appeals to, here's a chance to get it for cheap. Thanks!
