Seizing Iron-the story I made to spit in the face of twilight!

I think we've all had our share of interesting stories, from Dresden Files to Game of Thrones we've read fiction about some of the fantastical things the human mind has to offer us. We've read about intrigue, we've read about action and adventure, we've read horror and we've read mystery. But, may I ask, have any of you enjoyed romance? I have, I’ve read the cheesiest fanfiction, and the most heart wrenching of Shakespeare's work, and even still I’m certain there's much worse, and in many ways much better to be found.

Still, to this day nothing has disappointed me more than one series in particular. On the surface it had everything I liked, it had its own action, it was a dark story about the corruption of a mortal soul, it had a forbidden romance that at its time wasn’t so overdone as it is now, and it was even popular enough that I could ask the average person about it and receive an answer that wasn’t some form of “What the hell are you talking about?”  The series I’m talking about, as some of you may have guessed, is Twilight.

Spoiler for Hiden:

It was rushed, filled with plot holes, had an unnecessary and ridiculous romantic rivalry, skirted way too easily over the implications of someone falling in love with a baby, and ultimately spawned one of the worst franchises in the history of cinema. If I could force myself to forget the series was even real I would without a second thought.

Which brings me to Seizing Iron. I made that story for the sole purpose of washing the taste of Twilight out of my mouth. I’ve made this story so that people can read about the irredeemable, the bloodthirsty, and the monstrous creatures of the night. Proper vampires. Things that aren’t nice, have zero regrets, and are just as monstrous because of their remaining humanity over in spite of it.

I wrote this story to show the reality of a romance between a mortal and a monster. I wrote this to illustrate what happens when a man becomes obsessed with a beast that cannot be redeemed, cannot be reasoned with, and will not stop until it has drained the world dry. I wrote about a man's descent into violence and madness in pursuit of a woman who just might be incapable of love.

So please, follow me as we look into the beginning of Donovan’s personal journey into evil, as he combats the forces of darkness with strength of will, and guile forged from a desperate, all consuming infatuation with a woman he can only marvel at. Help me bring back the world of actually scary vampires, irredeemable monsters, and protagonists that aren’t trying to fix the mysterious beauty in their life.

You can read my story on amazon for three dollars, but I believe if you have the right kind of account it’s free. All feedback is more than welcome, positive or otherwise. I only request you try and be constructive.
