I don't like it much, and deleted my personal FB 10 years ago. That said, I've had a lot of good writer-related things come from having a page where I post author-type stuff and from joining a few groups, so it's definitely useful.

The FB writing groups are one of the main reasons I use FB. Some good people, and a lot of useful information that's hard to find in other places.

Facebook is, oddly, a bit faceless for me unless it’s with friends I know in the physical world. This forum works for me because we interact with many of the same people over a long period and in many threads, while still getting a movement in and out of new folks. Which has nothing to do with self-publishing.  But just saying.

I agree with @JMack and @CameronJohnston  the community here is intimate, kind and just wonderful in every way.

Facebook may be large, but a horde of internet trolls, clickbaity posts, a system designed for one-word responses... it's all really gross, unthinking, superficial and Brave-New-World-esque to me.  I'll take 10 wonderful people here over the multitudinous expansive garbage heap that is facebook and twitter any day.

hello all, I'm new on here. I've got two books done in a series of three. These are from the 'Bolan's Quest' series, a fantasy trilogy.

ive re-released the first book as my first 'stab' at all this self publishing was overwhelming. ive put the link to it on amazon here, but if anyone can offer any advice on how to get some readers, I'd appreciate it. I tried with amazon before, and honestly it seems its just there for them to make money rather than assist in promoting books in anyway.

does anyone think having your own website and selling the books directly via download is better?

thank you

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recently published book and see if I can get some pointers on how to self-publish. I've been trying to use my art as a means to get people interested. Here's the book and the website, if you feel like checking them out.

I have an Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook page and have found it really hard to use and promote them. Maybe somebody here has already been through something like it and can tell me how to improve my reach? Thanks in advance.
