It was Gail Carriger that put me off, Elfy, I am one of those who likes minimal romance in my fantasy.
I imagine arguments being swallowed back, wine spit in glasses and gurgling up bottles. I imagine my ring sliding off my finger, Bobby's lips hot on mine for the first time again, and then unknown to me.

I'm normally like that, too, but I felt that Gail was taking the piss most of the time with her romantic references. Gail has said that she will sacrifice a lot in her books if it will get her a laugh.

More magic realism and surrealism. But after Wind Up Bird I'm considering Kafka On The Shore and 19Q4.
It's magic realism, but with more prosthetics.

I'm quite enjoying   Daughter of the Sword (Fated Blades #1) by Steve Bein

It an UF but it also like a Historical Fiction as it got chapters of the past about samurai in Japan

Staked by Kevin Hearne comes out tomorrow, and will still get Luke Daniels as narrator like US, I hope  because I'm with US Audible, but Kevin Hearne said Christopher Ragland is narrator overseas. Yaaay, Atticus and Oberon addiction will be satisfied  ;D ;D

libromancer by Jim C.Hine surprisingly good I wasn't expecting much after reading the Step Sister scheme I'm really enjoying this story and its cool the hero uses novels as magical weapons, he used Dune to protect himself and other famous fantasy novels for various acts.

The 4th and final Magic Ex Libris book (Revisionary) comes out soon, Eclipse. I could never get into Hines' Goblin Quest series, but I really liked his Princess series and I've enjoyed (mostly) the Magic Ex Libris books.
I will expand your TBR pile.

I'm a bit late to the post, but I just discovered Steven McHugh for myself. Liked Crimes against magic, loved the second, and will make sure to keep on reading the third next month :)

We may get to it in the F-F Writers book club, but you should give "American Craftsmen" a try.
