Wardstone Chronicles / Last Apprentice series

I'm curious if anyone on here has read The Wardstone Chronicles (Last Apprentice in US) series by Joseph Delany?

I've just finished Book 5 and I have to say I'm now addicted to this series! It's a great series for anyone who enjoys books such as Harry Potter or Narnia. As with most YA fiction, it is a coming-of-age tale that follows the main protagonist Tom Ward as he is apprenticed to a Witch Hunter (Spook) known as John Gregory. Along the way Tom has to learn how to not only fight witches and evil spirits, but resist the overwhelming temptation to succumb to the darkness. I like that while good and evil are clearly presented as opposites in this series, there is a lot of discussion about how good can be used for evil and evil can be used for good.

I think this was one of the main reasons for me getting into fantasy so much! I don't remember how old I was, but it must have been around 2007 or 2008 when I picked both this and Darren Shan's Demonata series up. I loved them both to the point of Stan-ing them!

On that point, he now has a spinoff to the Spook's series that I still need to track down...
