Copy paste!!!

I don't care, my favourite is te one from The Long Way, because that open bubble of plant life that functioned as a lounge and a kitchen was fucking awesome.

Edit: I mean "copy paste, please!" When possible, to make it easier to enjoy the forum when I browse on my phone. Not inclined to click on links as I often get flooded by ads there, plus, precious data.

Great list though so :p.

I would go for the AI spaceships from the Culture with their awesome names (chosen by themselves.)

I don't read that much sci-fi, but I would've been voting for Ancillary Justice and Long Way (I'm with Nora, the green space was great), so I feel some undeserved sort of smug right now.

Going back a ways, some other favorites:

Streaker, the ship crewed by a combined human and dolphin crew, from one of my all-time favorite books, Startide Rising.

Rama, from Arthur C Clarke’s Rendezvous with Rama, the mysterious cylindrical world where everything comes in threes.

The “Okie” cities from James Blish’s Cities in Flight, which travel the galaxy using the spindizzy gravitational control technology.

The Gaea torus habitat ship from John Varley’s Titan, which is a weird, wild, almost psychedelic SF fantasy.

An early sentient ship, Helva, from The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey.

And not a spaceship at all, but the whaleship Rorqual Maru from The Godwhale by T. j. Bass, an obscure favorite.

Love that ship best of all - TheWayfarer.

Nora, I’m reading and posting now from ipad and phone so it is hard to do more than link and my old S4 won’t even copy/paste a link, so you’ll have to put up with it from me . :P
'..all tapes left in a car for more than a fortnight metamorphose into Best of Queen albums....they listened to William Byrd's "We Are the Champions"" and Beethoven's "I Want to Break Free". Neither were as good as Vaughan Williams "Fat-Bottomed Girls".

Going outside books (since we only specified sci-fi) I'd say my runner-up would be the Normandy SR-2 from Mass Effect. It's one of my favorite ships, ever. I love everything about it - the look, the sound, the weaponry, the interior. Plus, I've actually gotten to walk around on her bridge (in VRChat) so I feel like I've been there.

However, my absolute favorite ever would be the Yamato from Space Battle Ship Yamato (heavily sanitized as Starblazers in the US). Tough doesn't even begin to cover it. That ship got damaged again and again and kept fighting, and was as much a character as any of her crew members. I love the way the ship looks, flies, sounds, and fights. It's the one that's always stuck with me.
