hmm.

this sounds like crazy fun.  i think i'd like to play but i worry about the time commitment.  can i write an epic death scene for my character if i find it's sucking up too much time?

oh.  and i don't care about when it gets started.  probably not before november, tho.

As long as your death is batshit crazy that is ok  ;)

Go read the last entry on this page. If you can top that (and it actually brought a few tears to my eyes) then you're more than welcome to kill off your character.

I have to leave in a second, so when I get back I'll try and wrap together my thoughts for some replies.

Hmmm not sure that's a good example...  ::)
Scarlet was *really* mad at Wolfie for killing the Captain! Scarlet *really* liked the Captain, and the thought that they'll fight the good fight next year without him brings a tear to her eye.
Oh, but then she had a premonition, and while dreaming she saw this image:
The Captain sat on a cloud, dressed in a white robe, plucking on a harp string. Heaven was kinda dull. He figured he'd be sent to some form of Pirate Valhala, however he was proven wrong disappointedly.  He hoped Scarlet and Chill would summon him back for RPG 2016.

By the way, for those wondering, Scarlet continues her wizardy training, sneaking into Elfy's library when he's at the games to study the forbidden books. To be able to do this, she stays at Oggy's, being fed loads of great food and playing with the little Smug the dragon (who's now fully grown)
 ;D

Agreed :D
Actually, read the 3 pages of that ending chapter (or at least the very last post from our Doc!)

worry about the time commitment.
And you know, you can post one-sentence posts every once in a while - shorter posts are better than epic ones, allows the non-writers to feel more at home ;)

What is this, people!
Read ALL the pages of all the RPG 2015 threads. It's only about... let's say... a short novel's worth of words. Maybe?  ;)
Everything I wrote above is pure conjecture. I don't know what I'm talking about.

I'm a perfectionist but not very good at anything. That's why I rarely finish things.

Alright, let's see if I can break down some replies for y'all:

Right now it appears that "Winter" is winning, followed by "Summer" and then "Spring." Sorry Southern Hemisphere.  :(

@Lady_Ty: I do keep forgetting that there is a Southern Hemisphere, hehe. But there is four of you, plus maybe anybody else. It would be something to consider, seeing our Winter is your Summer. I know March might be the best time for some of us if we decided on doing a Spring RPG anyway. Maybe 2017 if this turns annual?

Chit chat thread is staying for reasons you outlined, and while I'd love for all the players to post in the Who's Who for their characters, I know I won't force them to. Though I will admit, that is one reason I forgot RA and Raptori, and had to chunk them in at the end of the denouement.

While I don't think I'll be looking for themes, Gangsters and Games of the Gods will probably make it in there as plot points. I might not set them as specific things (because where's the fun in mapping everything out) but I will leave them here for us to get back to for an idea.

@Henry: Crazy public sector calendar. But I think Winter is going to win it! You good for January?

@ArcaneArtsVelho: Unless the Winds of Winter change your mind, eh? ;)

Yeah, battles are best spaced out. I agree. Though I really, really like your idea of escaping from somewhere. Usually it's been getting to somewhere, but flipping that this time around might be cool, along with your map idea!

@Jmack: Well, RA and Raptori's characters might be the "MacGuffins" of the next plot. I think breaking them out of Elfy's library could be the first step, unless anybody disagrees. Then we can go from there. And do you mind beginning the second recruitment thread next time we start? Or do you want to pass that on to someone else, if we even do it? (Seeing as you voted for Summer and all.)

Also, yes, the end was the quintessence of the RPG. Beautiful stuff there. Especially your last post.

@Raptori: Hmm, it may be a good exercise in working with being a discovery writer! Probably not but who knows. :P

@m3mnoch: You should definitely join. Definitely. You won't regret it. Just don't read BOTH of the RPGs, lol.

@ScarletBea: But Cap can come back! Remember, he was in not!Pirate Valhalla and was musing on if we would invite him over for RPG 2016. And that interpretation might be interesting to work with, if we do decided to continue the Elfy sub-plot.

Not sure if I want to go all Epic again, but eh. We can sort that out later.

As for my favorite moments in the 2015 RPG, it's hard. I really loved this one, though I adored the Vampire arc and Lionel Ritchie escapades. Also, Waka. Waka made my day every time he posted. The Cap's entry was pretty cool, too. Can't forget that.

We also only have 9 votes when I think there was ten or eleven people. Do you want me to @summon the past participants of the 2015 RPG, or even go so far as to do it for the 2014 one? (I have seen a good number of those members on the boards lately, just not posting.)

Even do the Pirates, eh?

The whole reason why I disappeared last time was because I came in part way through and got insanely busy with it being my last year in Japan.  I vote winter, specifically January/February, because it's the most depressing time of the year and RPGing would perk up the post-holiday season.  Spring and summer tend to get busy and summer holidays screw up attendance.

Plot ideas?  I want an underwater level minus the temple.  That way my life-long dream of becoming a full-fledged Zora can finally be realized. :D

And finally, I have to talk about the highlight of the RPG for me: Oggy. @Lady_Ty made me laugh so much, and made me want to come up with the best ways to use her character when she wasn't around. But no matter what I did, I couldn't re-create the delightful madness of the stuff she cooked up.  :)

Jmack, you kept Oggy going perfectly when I couldn't and it was comforting to see her cooking pots kept on boiling in such capable hands. Greatly appreciated;D

By the power vested in me, I summon thee.
Those of ancient waters and pastime woes.
From the depths of hell you climb.
From the depths of hell you rise.
Come. I summon thee. I summon thee.

The Pirates RPG:
@Lor
@Nighteyes
@Elfy
@Arry
@xiagan
@Idlewilder
@Lionwalker
@AlmightyZael
@Charlemagne
@pornokitsch

And while uncharted waters may be best,
Some get lost among the rest.
But do not despair! The journey is here.
For while loss may be bad, adventure is the best!

The Amulet of Tolkeen RPG:
@MTMaenpaa
@Ben
@Yuan Francois (dammit man!)
@JonRock411
@Jian
@ScarletBea
@Eclipse

Just remember that at every end there is a light.
Like Yin and Yang and that third one we forgot.
But always we shall remember the greatest trio on Earth:
The Goat, the Dragon, and the Wolf of Fantasia,
there they come! Rejoice!

The Title War RPG:
@Jmack
@Henry Dale (damn you too!)
@ArcaneArtsVelho
@Nora
@Lady_Ty
@wakarimasen
@Rukaio_Alter
@SugoiMe
@ultamentkiller
@Raptori

And that one guy, @m3mnoch.

Apologies if I forgot anybody. I wanted to make sure we all came together for once, or at least most of us, seeing as I wanted to announce something:

The next RPG is tentatively set for January 2016. Good time as any to escape the dreary. I should have it ready by the beginning of that month. Seeing as it's going to be celebrating the Forum's 5 year anniversary, I wanted this to be big. I wanted as many people as we could muster into this one.

If it's anything of note, it'll crank up the crazy to 11. Just you watch.

I hope this doesn't wake any dead or break a seal or something. Just wanted to let everyone know, even if it's been a year since you've visited the boards, you're still welcome! Just mark your calendar this time. It's going to be a doozy.
