Trump wrote a stupid, third-grade-level letter to Erdogan which wasn't received kindly.

Here's the letter:

Here Erdogan's reaction:

I checked and my copy of Neil Gaiman's Trigger Warning (short story collection) is still firm between the other Neil Gaiman books on my shelf. So I can say that my Trigger Warning isn't out of control (yet).

And I fully agree with @Rostum's post. Additionally I think that there are enough echo chambers and bubbles where people only hear/read/see what they agree with. It's highly necessary to broaden everybody's horizons and confront people with the reality and not a soft-washed version of it.

Just started Magician: Apprentice, by Raymond E. Feist.

Be sure to come back and tell us what you think. I haven't read any Feist books and would love to know if they've stood the test of time.
In my eyes it does. One of my favorite installments of the orphan becomes the chosen one-tropes.

Reading Sven Hedin's Journey to Tibet. He was a Swedish explorer and one of the first Europeans to travel through the inaccessible parts of Asia (Gobi desert, Himalaya, etc), nearly dying a few times. The journey was in 1901-1903 and the German translation of the book is from 1912.

I finished In the Sanctuary of Wings, a fulminant conclusion to Brennan's series about the dragon naturalist Lady Trent.

Next may be The drowning City by Amanda Downum or N.K. Jemisin's short story collection How long till black future month?

Congrats, Jonathan!

I didn't have enough internet on the train to read all the stories yesterday, so I wasn't able to vote, but I will read the rest of the stories now. :)

[SEP 2019] School / Shall we keep the "school"-theme open for another month?
« on: September 30, 2019, 10:59:47 AM »
Please only vote if you plan to participate in the contest. Otherwise we may get a result nobody who participates is happy with.

The poll runs for two days and if the decision for a new topic is made, I'll post it on the 2nd or 3rd of October.

School just isn't a theme that excites me.
That only means you need to find a way to approach it that excites you. Give us a new twist to an old theme!

So....

Boris Johnson has been found to have broken the law and Donald Trump is being accused of flat-out treason, which apparently by US law carries the death penalty.

Thoughts?
This will of course go the way of the Panama Papers and the Epstein scandal.  :P

Bard apparently I am suspicious my lack of musical ability, sense of rhythm and tone deafness say otherwise.
I, the atheistic cleric, wants to join your club.
