Fantasy Movies, Comic Books & Video Games / Dragon Age: Redemption
« on: February 16, 2011, 03:31:55 PM »
Have you guys heard about the new web series with Felicia Day, based on "Dragon Age"?

Ummm... I'm disturbingly excited about this. I'm a huge "Dragon Age" fangirl, and Felicia Day is amazing. I think this has the potential to be something incredibly awesome, even if it will be short. :D

Here's the deal:

Ask the person who will post below you a completely random question. They answer, then then ask the person posting below them a question.

Question: If you could see a movie of your favorite fantasy novel, which would it be and who would direct it?

Sci-Fi, Horror, YA & Urban Fantasy Books / Zombies? - Recomendations

Do "zombies" count as sci-fi? Just curious.

I recently read World War Z by Max Brooks and Feed by Mira Grant, and I loved both of them. I have a copy of The Forest of Hands and Teeth on hold at the local library... But I really want more zombie fiction. Do you guys have any good ones to share?

General Discussion / GeekGirlCon!
« on: February 10, 2011, 05:15:36 PM »
Hello, everyone! In light of Overlord's recent post for articles, I want to take a minute away from your day to tell you about GeekGirlCon, a geek-centric convention that will be happening in Seattle, Washington on October 8th and 9th!

Essentially, "GeekGirlCon is a non-profit organization passionate about promoting women’s contributions to geek culture. We are having our first annual convention October 8 and 9, 2011 in Seattle at the Seattle Center Northwest Rooms." Men are also welcome, and encouraged, to come out and support the geeky ladies in their life!

If you're in the Pacific Northwest area, GeekGirlCon is hosting a whole bunch of different events. April 9th we're hosting a scavenger hunt in downtown Seattle (prizes include a pair of passes to the convention, a Kinect for XBOX360, and a limited edition dice bag created by yours truly!), and we're hosting a series of gaming tournaments (last month, we had a Munchkin tourney down in Portland, Oregon!).

Anyway. I wanted to let you all know about this awesome convention coming up. If you're interested in volunteering with us, go the GGC website and sign up! Our next All-Hands Meeting is the 19th at 10am, at the Madison Starbucks (4000 East Madison, Seattle, if I'm not mistaken). Feel free to come on by, grab some coffee, and meet some awesome people!

Thanks for reading all this! <3
