wait -- do we have to click through everyone and view their percentage individually?

or is there a fancy, sortable list?

also this:

Yes, don't worry Inks, they're always making fun of me because I prefer to use LibraryThing to catalogue my books ;)
If you'd like to check my books (there on LT), just click on the little world symbol under my avatar on the left!

Wow, how come I never thought of doing that!

*shakes head*

*sighs*

rookies . . .

I may've said this already, but I shoot for 500 words/day. Been kind of out of it for the past few months, but things are looking up. Made and passed my goal yesterday.

nice.

yeah, my soft-target is 250, my goal is 500, and my celebration mark is 750.

Well... my photo is featured on a reprint of my short story (The Fluttering Heartbeat) in The Scarlet Leaf Review July 2017 Issue. *feeling rather shy and jittery, since this is actually the first time I'm posting my picture on here*

If anyone wanted to see the whole profile & read the story: http://www.scarletleafreview.com/short-stories1/category/s-k-inkslinger

/highfive

congrats!!  that's super-cool!

guess who just finished their first draft!?!

*does the happy dance*

Congratulations! How many words is it? What is the story about? Now I'm curious too.  :D *joins in in the happy dance as well*

the first draft was just shy of 60k.  but, i'm a severe under-writer, so i suspect it's going to net out at about 90k.  for example, i've already added a thousand words -- and i'm only halfway through editing the first chapter.

as to what it is . . . um . . . gothic-sardonic-ridiculously-escalating-character-driven-grimdark-lite-thriller-with-a-mindblowing-twist-ending?

so, similar in tone to this demon-x story, but written in third-person-close, and in a more sanderson-magic-heavy version of a faction-laden-asoiaf-like setting.

for example, here's a sample of "unedited rough draft" stuff in one of the later fight scenes:
Quote
Refocusing, [ONE OF THE 'HEROES'] grunted and brought his fist down on top of the [BADGUY], his arm smashing down through [THAT SAME BADGUY] with bare resistance, and thundered into the stone floor below.  Dividing the man like a crushing portcullis, and nearly carving him in half.

[OUR 'HERO'] pulled his hand from where he'd buried it in the floor.  [THAT POOR BADGUY]'s gore, smeared along the hallway rug, pooled in the indented trough made by [OUR 'HERO']’s forearm.

yeah.

that's about right.

Argh, I tried posting a photo, but even though I saved it to Drive, then Photos, then Albums, when I do preview with the image link of any of the above, the photo doesn't appear ::)

I haven't had a chance to engage more fully with this discussion, and most points that I'd want to make have been covered anyway, I just wanted to chime in belatedly on this:
...I don't have enough time to sit and do four critiques for every one I'm allowed to post.
Everyone has to make their own choices and prioritisation on time and effort, etc, but I really do encourage everyone who wants to be a writer to take time to critique the work of others. I cannot overstate how much I learned and improved from doing this. My stint at Critters was hugely valuable, not for what I got in critique (because honestly, the comments weren't that helpful) but for what I learned in digging into the work of others and thinking about not just what wasn't working for me, but why it wasn't, and what underlying problems it suggested. (And then looking at/for those things in my own work.)

a thousand times this ^^^

Really? I'm only here for the beer I must learn to write!

dudes!  dudes!  (and all the dudettes, of course!)

i laid down 842 words this morning!!

i'm now halfway through the last chapter.  probably 1500 words to go, then it's a quick structural/story/consistency edit.  after that, it'll be time to put it in front of people for thoughts on the story!

so, here i am, wading into creating the ebooks, and lo!  there are no spoiler tags!  all my parsing scripts blew up.  gotta do some tweaking!

what is going on, guys?!?  i've only been out of the contest a month!

m3m Suggest you hold off giving us ebooks for now. The mods are still working through all the things that have gone wrong and gradually some are coming back. If you change your programme to suit it could need changing again. Also summoning is missing so hope you read this. ????

pishaw!  i got this!

it's pretty easy to do a "if everything's working right, do it this way.  if everything's still wonky, do it the other way!"

hrm.  it's just a matter of finding time now.
