Read Alongs / Re: The Traitor God, part 2 - chapters 8 to 14

Despite pre-ordering this (FF Writers <3) I bounced off it quite early and have only just managed to re-engage with the story. This is no reflection on any weakness is Cam's writing as I've struggled to Get Into both Novik and Becky Chambers in the same time - I've just had a reading slump, I guess.

Anyway, I find the world enthralling. There's a visceral and grubby physicality to the magic that appeals greatly and the MC is well realised. I don't particularly dig Walker as a protagonist - why I bounced off it, I guess - but I'm liking him more and more as we reveal more about his past. The set-up in the Boneyard was excellent.

The mysteries regarding his leaving Setharis are intriguing and bubble along nicely in the background.

In short, I'm enjoying it a lot now, with the setting in particular proving very rich.

Great review, T.

I wonder... have you seen any impact on sales?

Great to see. :)

Brilliant game. Excellent combat, a world worth delving into, and well-pitched difficulty.

I adored Dark Souls. Sif and Artorias in particular. <3

Absolutely delighted for both you Eli and you, Teba. Getting a positive review in Analog is fantastic and hopefully all your hard work is starting to pay off for you, Eli... if from a somewhat unlikely source!

Congratulations all. :)

Awwww, yeah!

I loved Senlin Ascends from beginning to end, but I found the world intriguing from page 1.

Currently reading something called 'The God Traitor' or something. It's by some Scottish chap, I think. Seems great so far. MC is a Cool Guy.

Thanks for the encouragement. It's most certainly needed!

Looking forward to tucking into this one, so count me in.

Good stuff, T.

I finally hit 40k on Book 1 today. Maybe, just maybe, I'll get there one day!

Mieville is a standout, for sure.

The essence of it looks fine enough to me. Good, in fact. How the characters will deduce the pattern and (presumably) predict what will be next is the tricky part.

Bouncing off a lot of things at the moment. Dipping in and out of The Scar again.
