Having more writers around is always a good thing.
Welcome to FF

And - as always - if in doubt, set something on fire!
This :p

But on a more serious note, I do agree, as long as it's not too farfetched, don't suddenly go into atmospheric battles defying the laws of gravity if your characters aren't fit for that ;-)
I like building it up by spreading the details out more. Making my way to the roof step by step so to say.

Hey and welcome to Fantasy Faction.
Yeh, I hate the questions and letters thing as well... especially since I usually check on my phone and the thing is case sensitive T.T

But let's talk fantasy instead of complaining about that :p
The small library here has forced me to expand my private lib instead which isn't too hard since everyone gifts me books all the time.

I never count words on a daily basis though Word tells me over 50k at the moment in total. I rather base myself on how far in the plot I am and how much I still have to do. I'm slowly crawling to the end of my first book :p Hope I get my first edit done in 2015.

Hey, welcome to fantasy faction.
Dutch is my first language. (Though I'm not Dutch. I'm Belgian.)
There's an art section which you might find interesting if you're into covers and the like. I checked out your youtube link and it looks really good. :-)

Enjoy your stay!

Guess everyone has a bit their own system, though it's very helpful to know how you guys go about it. Gave me some ideas to better organize my own world(s).

Those both are very helpful :-)
At the moment I'm using a google sites wiki so my friends can log in just using their google account. Sites was never designed to be an actual wiki though.

My subdivision at this time is:
- stories
- characters
- affiliations and factions
- locations
- science
  -exploration
  -nature
  -social sciences
  -magic
  -technology
- history
- objects and artifacts

Hey welcome

The mods should correct me if I'm wrong but here goes.
Level/title is based on your post count.
Karma can be given by anyone when your contribution in a post is particularly helpful. The money you accrue by activity can be spent in the shop for an additional title.

Just being curious here.
When worldbuilding, how do you go about sorting all your notes?
Is it pure chaos or do you have a system?
Do you store it on paper, on your pc or on the web?
What would you recommend to others and do you have tips and tricks?

I recently finished dragon age origins first time and switched from Rift to GW2 cuz I'm a GW1 veteran...
Then there's that ton of games to complete...I blame humble bundle for being so cheap with loads of good titles T.T
Somehow I juggle this with writing a decent sized novel...don't know how.

You're only as old as you feel :p
My gran's 90 and still up and about, complaining about those old people in the home across the street who are a decade younger than her ^^

Anyway, thanks for the welcome everyone :-)

Which kind of video game? :)

Tough question. As long as it has a decent story or good writing I'm up for it. Final fantasy and star ocean for example. To the moon was good too. Also playing mmos like guild wars. Tactical stuff too like civilizations or valkyria chronicles. I don't really have a set preference :p

Hi, I'm Henry Dale, 23 at time of writing.
When I was young (I know...23 is young too ^^') I devoured a lot of fantasy. The wheel of time, Harry Potter, jonathan Strange...
All of them succumbed to my reading eyes.
I speak English, French, Dutch, German and a tad of Spanish so I always try to read in the original languages.
At the moment I'm writing my first ever long novel so wish me luck.

I found fantasy faction while browsing the fantasy reddit in search of new books to read. I love the wonderful content about worldbuilding.

Hobbies include reading, writing, travelling and an occasional video game.

For the people who skipped the wall of text: hey!
