I find it interesting that everyone thinks lightsaber person is a he.  Looks more feminine to me.  Gwendoline Christie's character perhaps

And yeah, the light saber is impractical as hell.  Still looks cool though, which is the important thing with Star Wars

Am I the only one who finds it odd that there are two separate game series with Templars as major plot points?

Personally, I'm enjoying DAI.  I like that it seems to tie back with the previous games than DA2 did.  It definitely feels like a finale.  (I still kind of want a side-game where a new blight shows up and you lead a team made up of all the Grey Warden characters (save the Warden for obvious reasons), but that's just my wishful thinking.)

No, we don't :(. Although in the 2010 you so fondly remember we did have Worldcon down here.

Fair point.  I will admit to not being as much into the fantasy fandom back then and thus unaware of which Worldcons were held where.

Five years, dang.  Ah, 2010.  I remember that year.  It was a simpler time.  There was no upcoming Star Wars movies.  Game Of Thrones hadn't taken over the media.   People were complaining Dance With Dragons was taking too long to come out.

Good times, good times.

But yes, a party is in order and a US gathering would be great.  Of course, it would be best to figure out the most reasonable part of the country to hold one in.   No reason to have one in Florida if everyone lives in the Northwest.  (Note: I know everyone doesn't live in the Northwest.  I, for instance, live in Indiana and I believe Chill lives in....Vermont, I think.   Not entirely sure)

I feel sorry for the Australian Factioneers.  Poor Australia, never gets any love.

So I actually decided to change my novel plot at the last second, my new one is...well this

It has been a mere 20 years since the Great Mage War ravaged the planet, and the country of Antrage has already put it behind them.  With elections on the way, a rising wave of non-mages demanding equal rights, and a series of mysterious disappearances across the land, Antragites have a lot on their plate to worry about helping their fellow countries.  But when a new war of cosmic proportions comes to their doorsteps, the world falls into chaos.   Conspiracies are activated, secrets are revealed and the world will never be the same.   In the midst of all this madness, a politician, a detective, a runaway, an author, and a killer must try to stop the incoming threat in this war of madness.

What will your novels be about? Mine will be fantasy/ alternate history: what if, during the Opium Wars, China had deployed Wuxia-level (think Crouching Tiger- Hidden Dragon) martial artists against the British, showing the world that supernatural powers are not just myth and make-believe?

Well that sounds like something I'd read.   Definitely an interesting concept.

Mine is....odd, I suppose.    It involves a world of fictional archetypes where all the different fictions have happened (to keep it simple, think League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen or Planetary) and begins with the anthropomorphic personification of the Crime genre being murdered and the one poor schmuck who finds the body being thrown into a mess of chaos as the laws holding the world fall apart around him.

I wouldn't mind some critique on my story.  I know something's probably wrong with it, as all stories are flawed in some way.   I'll post my critiques tomorrow after I've gotten some sleep.  (Sister's home for fall break so the weekend's been a long one)

I have fond memories of growing up watching Lost In Space, even had a little remote-control Robot.  (And yes despite my age, I am referring to the 1960s television series, not some movie that apparently came out)

I tend to go back and forth.  It's either secondary worlds with realistic characters and what not, or the real world but the real world of comic books, kaiju, and 60s spy films.

Well, off the top of my head, there's Throne Of The Crescent Moon by Saladin Ahmed

Though I don't remember the Seven-Davros scene, just Seven mocking his big villain speech.

The Doctor mocked him in order to provoke him into using the Hand of Omega (up to and including "please don't use the Hand of Omega") which the Doctor had secretly reprogrammed so that it would destroy Davros and his ship. When Davros realised this and was about to die, and begged for his life, the Doctor mocked him again.

Davros escaped, but very much in spite of the Doctor's efforts, not because of them.

Many Daleks did not, though.

That's why its called, "Remembrance of the Daleks".

(hats off, everyone).

Ah right.  It's been awhile since I watched Remembrance.
