Fantasy Book & Author Discussion / Re: Steven Erikson

He's been on my reading list forever. Since people say his malazan series is supposed to be as good as WoT. WoT is my all time fav series. Anyways, any particular book I should start with?

I know it's a YA book, but it felt beyond childish. So yeah, he normally doesn't write fantasy or kid books. The way the characters kept saying cool and wth. I couldn't take it anymore. lol.

Ok, since that last book was pretty bad. Didn't finish it yet btw. I'm going to read some actual fantasy as I haven't done so lately. Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb.

So far this book is pretty bad. I'll say more if I get through with it.

I'm reading Witch and Wizard and I'm already regretting it. I've read some YA stuff before but so far this is pretty bad. It's like James Patterson is going out of his way to get kids attentions. I'm glad other books aren't written like this. So much for trying something different. I want to at least finish it.

Fantasy Book & Author Discussion / Dystopian style books
« on: January 15, 2012, 08:52:29 PM »
I seem to be reading a bunch of dystopian style books lately. Hunger Games etc etc etc. Anyways, I'm looking to see what other books are out there like this. If y'all have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Reading Wolfsangel by MD Lachlan, and loving it so far. Below is a review for Gollancz/Pyr's The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie:

Wolfsangel was great. Trying to find the sequel.

Reading Witch and Wizard right now. It's James Patterson so hopefully it's good.

Anyone read this series? It's one of my next books to read. Just want to know if it's decent though. I know the author is great.

I'm reading Matched by Ally Condie. I was curious to read more dystopian stuff after the hunger games but this is turning into a love story though.

I read at least a hundred last year and I plan on beating that. To many books. To little time.
