Introductions / Re: Getting to know you

I just drooled all over my keyboard.  I'm waiting on Girl Scout cookies to be delivered right now.  Geesh... drool, drool... mmmmmm, cookies (think Homer Simpson).

I haven't seen a single Girl Scout this year.  :'(  I NEED my fix!
I know where you can get some if you want to send me a message.  No pressure, just saying.

General Discussion / Re: Science Fiction and Fantasy

I think personally;

Sci-Fi: COULD be true - i.e. it can be scientifically possible
(i.e. aliens, disease, visiting other planets, other dimensions - some kind of explanation)

Fantasy: Not possible / based on something that could never happen
(i.e. magic, orcs / humans inhabiting same planet, alternative histories, etc)
I like this summation, but maybe you should say "Fantasy: Not probable / Based on mythology and lore

I say this because anything is possible and I think that my closet is infested with Brownies.  :D

General Discussion / Re: What is your secondary genre?

I'll agree with you on that. Us guys aren't supposed to like Romances, and I don't like Harlequins, but I like Fantasy Romances (like Robin Owens Lladrana series), Urban Fantasy Romances (On the Edge by Illona Andrews).

It confuses my wife really badly sometimes :)

Wayne aka The Mad Hatter

Thanks, Mad Hatter.  I needed that vote of confidence. You and Funky Scarecrow make it sound much better.  :)

I have to admit that it is Paranormal Romance.  OK, I know that is a little wierd sounding, but there are some very good books our there under this category.  I also like non-fiction books about the Crusades, the Knights Templar and other mysterious topics.  I'm an avid conspiracy theorist and I love to think "Look out, the sky is falling!" was not invented by Henny Penny, but rather by ancient chickens who mistakenly referred to UFO's as the sky falling because they had no frame of reference for comparison.

I am absolutely addicted to "Hallelujah!" from the movie Shrek.  I think it not only covers my life in a nutshell, but some of my characters as well.  :'(

Hi, I'm new.  I've been new for a couple of days now.  My newness started when I first came here.  I plan to remain new as long as possible and then I plan to become old. When I get old, I'll look back on my newness with a chuckle and say "Remember when I was new?"  :D

I'm an old author already and that is my greatest achievement.  ;)
I'm also a retired state employee:  Public Servant :D
I'm a failed teacher... too much violence (in the administration).  >:(

Introductions / Re: Level of Education?
« on: January 28, 2011, 07:16:18 PM »
Believe it or not, I used to teach middle school science.  I have a Bachelor's in Secondary Education.  I passed the test to do graduate work and never went back.  A shame.  I like being a student.  My brain is spongy, no wait!  My brain is a sponge.  :-\

My favorite color is chocolate.  No wait, it's red... cherry red!

My dream job is writer extraordinaire, no astronaut!  No, wait they have to exercise all the time.  I think
I would like to be a wine taster/critic writing for all those glossy, smelly good magazines.

My phobia is no joke!  Spiders... I hatez them.

Hey, Mathias! One of these days I'm going to have to break down and read your book.  Miss Syria Says gave it a good review.

Sounds good, I've added it to my goodreads wishlist.   ;D
Thanks, Christina! I'd be happy to hear from you.  Comments, questions, gab.  Even criticism is welcome.

OOOOO, assassins....medieval history....templar order.....SIGN ME UP!!

I will be grabbing this when I get my Kindle in a couple of weeks!

Hey, Michael! Hope you enjoy the read.  I have twenty-one books up in the series... so far. :D

WOW! 21 books! THAT will keep me occupied for quite a while!!
It took me about six years to write them all, but it's taken another ten to edit and proof them and they are still not perfect.  I finally had to say, enough! Publish them Brendan before you die of old age!

Sounds like my kind of story.  I'll have to look into it.
