Fantasy Book & Author Discussion / Re: Jasper Fforde
« on: December 24, 2012, 11:24:14 AM »
Jasper Fforde is one of my favourites, Shades of Grey ( only 1 ) is really well constructed. If you love quirky you'll love his collection.

2
Scott Lynch - Republic of Thieves
Peter Brett - Daylight War
Patrick Rothfuss - The Door of Stone ( fingers crossed for 2012 )
Myke Cole - Fortress Frontier

My top three, in no particular order, though I'm sure that two of them are tied for third.

First off : Buy the square trade warranty. 30 pounds for 3 years warranty. Second of all amazon are an awesome company to buy from simply because they will pretty much bend over backwards to help you. Contact their support line and tell them what went wrong and they should organise something for you. I've known people who have had their Kindles replaced by amazon outside of warranty when the user has dropped it into water.

But when you say jail broken, how do you mean?

I don't normally get to a point where there is tears in my eyes, only one film ever came close ( million dollar baby ) but there is one or two novels where I actually have. not in fantasy that I can remember.

The Power of One by Bryce Courtney has a scene where his pet chicken is killed by a fellow school boy. Saddest moment in novel history. I was 11 years old and in the middle of school at the time o.O

Myself, Nick (Preden?) and Nestat all walked to the nearest Tube station with Chase. Not sure if you remember it Chase, but it was an interesting experience. Nestat will probably agree with me.

You actually still have those shoes? By the end of Friday they were more like socks.  :D

Was that after the event? What happened? I don't remember that at all...

And I lost my left one.

Really gutted i missed this one :) Hopefully, the pornokitsch event will be as successful. Well done everyone. And Chase...don't worry, I would probably have done exactly the same thing as you, when i'm a bit nervous/excited I can get a bit messy as well :) You having any "did I really do that?" flashbacks yet? haha. Sorry I'm going to miss you in London. You're heading back to Australia soon right? I would have paid money to hear a drunken conversation between you and Lor in Japanese :)

Pete tweeted me with ' Did you ever remember your 6th question? ' apparently I interrogated him but I can't remember any of the answers... or the questions. Hopefully someone else does? There is also quite a few photos of me with Peter albeit no flash, he looks a little scared :P

Did I really do that moment was definitely on the way home but nobody saw that so it is all good. Although apparently I tried to chat up Sarah Pinborough but at the time I thought she was Joe's girlfriend. I don't think I made a good impression on Joe :P

The best moment is seeing an absolute legendary photo on my camera ( which I didn't lose! ) of Myke Cole and I. That guy is my hero. It wasn't that I was nervous, I had seen far too many beers for that.

Hierath - you Too, one more time thanks for the awesome chat.

Laura - keep away from my damn shoelaces ;)

At least I apologized! :D

And it wouldn't have worked without you guys, thanks for showing up :D

Now Chase, get some new shoes!

You didn't see my fancy new sneaks?

Nestat - Things are a little fuzzy, I'm sorry if I did or said anything to offend you. I hope that if we meet again I make a better impression.

Lor - Thanks for some solid organising, really enjoyed the Dungeon and the Tower! I never got to try one of your cup cakes though :( and did I really try to chat up Sarah and if I did was I making any headway?

Idlewild - Sorry dude, googled it Idlewild - American English Had a great first night with Nick and you, and day 2 was awesome as well.

Nick - Not sure what your username is but hope you find your levi's! Great meeting you.

Anne Lyle - Best Tower of London guide ever. Loved the personalised message and really look forward to reading The Alchemist of Souls.

Noona - Hope you made your train all right, thanks for meeting us for the Tower of London!

Hound - I was as stunned as you were, I had tears in my eyes! Don't worry she stepped on my shoelace all day as well.

Everyone - I admit I had slightly a little more to drink then I should have, I was a little over excited. I apologise to everyone for my antics. Secondly thanks to everyone, I had a great time and this is definitely the highlight of my year in Europe. Hope one day you can make it to Australia and look forward to seeing you all again when you do. Thanks to everyone who helped organise and to the authors for a great panel and a great chat at the phoenix.

Thanks Everyone for a great day and a great evening. I may have been slightly inebriated by the end of the night... slightly. I apologise to everyone for that.

Great meeting you all.
