Congrats, SugoiMe! :)

@AlmightyZael, your last submission won, this submission got zero votes. Wondering how your next one will do! ;)

Ha! I guess it holds true to my inconsistent nature  ;)

But my stories tend to have a blurred focus as opposed to a linear plot, so it often feels like it lacks direction. But I enjoy writing things with a heavy atmosphere, where things aren't really explained - you just kinda have to assume and let your mind run with the idea :)

I think I'm going to try something different for this month. Good luck everyone! Great to see we have a decent amount of submissions already!

You're probably just more advanced than us plotters!!! There's a fair amount of well-regarded plotless literary fiction, I think the slice-of-life format fits very well for shorts too!

You say advanced, I say winging it. Potato, tomato :P But y'know what they say, 'write the story you'd like to read.'

To be honest we have some freakin' excellent writers among us, wordsmiths that make me more jealous than I care to admit! I think they're secretly authors who like to practice outside of their established genres...

3. Those who are good a maths, and those who aren't.

It's hilarious, but kind of worrying... I mean, if anything like this was ever done about how to write a gay character, the author would have to step so bloody lightly so as not to offend anyone.

"Include one canon straight character." Pff. Get that fluff outta here :L

Does your whip have a name, Bea? Cracky the Votenator? Whippy McGee? Prince Whippit of the Kingdom of Wutish!?

I tend to quickly think of an idea and depending on the length it only takes maybe an hour or two to write. Which is probably why they suck  ;D

Gone for a few days and you've all gotten yourself into trouble again...

Guess I'm one of the few that doesn't really want a movie. I'd hoped they'd forgotten about it :(
Nope, agree with you 100%

I feel the same about all adaptations tbh. Same with games being turned into movies. I think it's a lot to do with reading a book being such a personal experience, that a movie aimed at millions of people just removes all value the work/idea has :(
Yes, and it's also the power and depth of words in your brain vs. a purely visual experience of a movie.

Pluuuuus, the characters look and sound how you want them to, not how the producer under pressure to appeal to as many people as possible sees them.

Oh, another thing to cheer me up!!
I just got a mail from Robin Hobb :D

Yesterday I wrote to her thanking her for the Rain Wild Chronicles (I copied the comments I wrote on the other thread), and now she's replied, thanking me for my kind words, that it was really nice to hear them while she's in the middle of heavy edits on Assassin's Fate :D

Excellent! That was a pretty fast reply!

Polansky was on my list of unread authors (almost wrote "undead", there; that's a very different list)

What? You have a list of undead authors? Please send it to me by PM!  ::)

Zombie Shakespeare?

Look. You don't but gravy on biscuits, unless you lot call Nutella gravy, in which case I'll let it pass. But all this shark jumping is making me crave biscuits.
