Fantasy Book & Author Discussion / GREY HEROES
« on: May 17, 2014, 11:29:43 AM »
When I was about 8 years, all my fantasy heroes were white...as in simply good, always doing the right thing and winning my heart. Mind you I still love my Aragorn in Lord of the Rings and so on. But I got older and the world evolved. I desired my hero to be human and as humans we are just grey...good and bad and circumstances force us into evil. I have to say as we speak there are so many grey characters but for me Tyrion Lannister and Jorg Ancarath take the cup...What do you think? Are grey heroes the real deal or might we soon end up with the Aragorns and King Arthurs of our toddler days.

I watched it. I liked it loads. Then I wonder...if you put the bible and religion out of the equation does Noah become SFF?

Fantasy Book & Author Discussion / Book Covers
« on: April 09, 2014, 06:58:13 PM »
Let me be honest. There are a number of great books out there. But a great book is not just its content. Many times I find myself staring at my Prince, King or Emperor of Thorns book covers. That was some amazing work right there. It gets me thinking, for SFF the story, narrative and style are half the work, the rest is the cover artwork. Do you agree or not?

PS: Feel free to mention some amazing covers that have inspired you to read a book...

Fantasy Movies, Comic Books & Video Games / Game of Thrones RPG

I have read the books...I love them well save for the odd book in the middle. I love the series but I have seen numerous GoT games advertised. How many of you want to see a really real GoT book...maybe about the time of Aegon the Conqueror? I want to see this brought to life where I can actually fly a dragon...

Wouldn't you?

Fantasy Book & Author Discussion / GRRM's revival of ASOIAF
« on: December 18, 2013, 08:27:26 AM »
Spoilers for A Dance with Dragons:
Spoiler for Hiden:
Well...as a big fan of the whole ASOIAF series, I am glad to say...and I know that many of you agree with me that Mr. Martin did something with A Dance With Dragons that seemed to be lacking in a Feast for Crows. He got the spark back. The Stormborn finally wants her throne and I had gotten bored with her dillydallying in the sands. Everything seems to be setting up nicely for Winds of Winter...I hope I am not alone with this perception and view...just saying

So as we all wait for George R. R. Martin's return with Winds of Winter I will ask any of you willing to give it a chance to really get your hands on King of Thorns and Empire of Thorns thereafter...
