I just wanted to make everyone aware of my fantasy/scifi/adventure novel Black Redneck vs. Space Zombies.

The book is a blast, but don't take my word for it. Check out the reviews.

Go buy it now or space zombies will eat a koala bear. And, he's so cute.

Does anyone know of anyone who does honest reviews in exchange for a free e copy.

People with blogs would be ideal, but anyone willing to do a review on Goodreads or Amazon would work as well.

Self Publishing Discussion / Kickstarter

Has anyone done or thought about doing a Kickstarter.

I'm thinking about doing one for my novel Black Redneck vs. Space Zombies and wanted to get feedback on what rewards would get you to contribute to a publishing kickstarter.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Writers' Corner / Beginning with a fight scene.
« on: February 26, 2012, 06:38:30 PM »
Hello all.  I'm about halfway through my latest novel and things are going well, but I'm a little concerned about the opening. It starts with an extended fight scene. My concern is that people will have trouble caring about the epic battle because they don't know the characters yet.

I just wanted to get everyone thoughts, or if anyone was aware of a book in which the author pulled off beginning with a fight scene.

LightSpeed, a hugo nominated magazine, just tweeted:

We currently have ZERO submissions in our queue, so now would be a lovely time to submit.

Don't you just love twitter.

Best of luck to everyone.

Writers' Corner / Beta Readers needed for Kung Fu script
« on: March 21, 2011, 08:41:42 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I know everyone is busy working on their own projects, but I'm looking for some readers for my Kung Fu screenplay, The Venom King.  It's a screenplay so it's not a big commitment to read.  I guess it would take someone about an hour to read.  So, it would be a fun and brief break from your own projects.

You don't need to know anything about screenplays or movie-making as I'm just looking for notes on the story, but, if you are familiar with the format, that's great.

I've had one script optioned before, so you shouldn't except too much suckage even though it's a rough draft :)

If you're interested just email me at stevenroy@gmail.com, and I'll reply with a pdf.
