Re: The Originality Thread! (For Authors and Tears) Thanks RobertS. Have been enjoying a variety of stories involving old Gods in various urban settings and look forward to yours in due course.
@Lanko The use of the word Serene in various forms  was pretty common in many old  European titles although doubtful if nowadays. You should use whatever you want, regardless of The Goblin Emperor. Been a while since I read it but it left me with impression of an Oriental court at the time anyway. I enjoyed it hope you do as well. ;D

Re: Politics and other ailments of the real world I very highly doubt Weinstein's case will change anything. The states ellected a man who bragged of grabbing women by the pussy. They knew during the election process and still voted for him.
There is an audio video of Weinstein asking an actress or model to please come in his room and watch him shower. After he touched her the previous day she talked to police and they decided to have the recording made while she returned to see him. She bailed out before getting in the room though, but man his way of insisting she comes in, then becomes serious and orders her to stop making a scene, to not shame him in front of the hotel staff... it's super creepy.

Besides we're just out of the Cosby trials right? I think sexual assault by powerful men is just another gun control problem the USA won't address. You can't address it anyway. How do you stop a man being a predator?
Besides raising him to not be a total psycho? Powerful men are powerful. They have money to bribe and ways to end careers. I think that's a thorny issue. The voice of women is often disregarded even in less dramatic issues. I don't see a huge shift coming.
And certainly not under women hating Trump who bashed Porto Rico's mayor the moment she voiced a contradictory opinion.

Winoc the Traveler - Free Web Fiction Once a month, I traveled to the western mountains to trade. It was often enough. Dreaming gods continued to conjure strange creatures in the lands beyond. I’ve always admired people willing to hunt and trap out there. Not me. I needed a little more rationality in my life. Still, I was anxious to see what the mountain men were bringing. It could have been anything – unicorn horns, dragon scales, or even phoenix feathers. I blew out a long, hissing breath. My hopes were up, but I had been disappointed before. Sometimes, all they had were deer and rabbit pelts.

I paced around the oxcart with my wool cloak pulled tight against the wind. The sun had dipped under a mountain, casting a shadow across the green valley. We were only a third of the way to the peak, but high enough for the air to chill. I was thankful the trail ended here; the thick forest and steep cliffs made sure of it. The mountain men would have to come down.

Winoc the Traveler is my sword and sorcery web serial, about a trader who goes on the run to protect his friend's daughter. I'm currently updating it twice a week and have been having a lot of fun writing it.

Hope you like it!

Re: At what point do you become jaded and distance yourself from your readers? From what I've seen, there's a wide variety of fan-types, and I imagine that I would enjoy some more and some less than others. We all like positive feedback and encouragement; who doesn't like being someone else's inspiration in any format? But the ones who will rail with content decisions (esp. in subsequent works where they were pre-invested) are probably irritating from day 1.

I have two people outside my family who are fans of my story - they touch base from time to time to ask about progress, etc. They really like it, and I love them for that, and I probably always will.

Re: The King's Paws (with one holding a bottle of Peri Peri sauce.) 666! This is just fake news from people who hate our Forum.
Make our Forum great again!
The Moderators? They’re just Mediocrators. Little people with little lives.
Believe me.
Give Atku a chance and I’ll drain this swamp you call a Forum.
And that little rocket man in North Korea? We’ll destroy him utterly. Utterly.
Which involves the Forum how? I have the best people working on that. The best. People.

Re: If you were made into a homunculus today... FMA not my style? I think you have a very odd vision of what is my style, if you think I'd not be into one of the best plotted and drawn series ever produced
My book reading does not reflect my manga reading at all, not to mention anime.

I've read the FMA books many times over the years, and watch anime of every sort constantly. I read romance (heck one of my favourite series is a normal romance, MARS), school life, sff (which is super umbrella in manga. But like, Akira, Domu, Fruits Basket...), weird Japanese modern, shonen, seinen, horror, even some good old yaoi or sports and game based manga. Was a fan of Hikaru no Go the moment it hit the shelves, for example.
I even watch and read good trashy stuff like Nanatsu no Taizai and Attack on titan.

I grew up reading/watching CLAMP (Sakura card captor, Knit Rayearth, Chobits, X), Sailor Moon, along with Ranma 1/2 and more mecha anime, Dragon ball, What's Michael (awesome 80s book about a cat), samurai stories (loads of them)...
Huge fan of trigun, cowboy bebop, the good old 90s shit...

Do you know that Hiromu Arakawa, who did FMA, has an amazing ongoing manga called Silver Spooon, about a tokyo boy who gets into an agricultural school just to get away from home and ends up getting into it and changing the lives of those around him? Amazing series.

Is it me or have these forums been quiet lately?
Seriously too quiet. Someone needs to start some trouble.

I have a big favor to ask you, Eli. In a book series I have a few parts that are Iceland related. I did way too much research for the amount of Iceland content that I ended up using, but I would love it if I could get someone from Iceland to look over my shoulder and tell me if I got anything wrong.

Could you clarify? And I remind you that, what with my autism, my viewpoint may not be typical.
