Re: Member birthday calendar Writing poems that rhyme
is not an easy thing to do,
but today the Cutter of the Gems
  is a ripe old fifty-two!
So freeverse can take a seat
  somewhere near the back:
rhyming's the flavor of the day
if I can stay on track.
Happy birthday, goes the song,
and I wish you many more
full of warrior wizards battle plans
  and other exciting lore.
Your poems and stories are a treat to read
we never know what's in store
Keep it up, the cutter of the gems,
  you leave us wanting more.
May your birthday be full of fun
and the coming years a blast.
May this year be made of treasured memories
like every year until your last!

Happy birthday TGC

Re: Take a look at my magic system? Gemcutter that was far from dull. You actually reminded me about piezoelectric crystals. Some aircraft use them as an ice detection system where the buildup of ice has an affect on the resonance of the crystal if I remember correctly.

Crystals is indeed a better term, though my system would include gems as well. The minerals are, in all honesty, not incredibly important.  The powers they hold are really very arbitrary.  Some importance will depend upon size and clarity, but mostly this system will not be quite that detailed.

While I find your system incredibly interesting I am trying to steer away from real world properties. I'm also not going to be using traditional metaphysical ideas about Crystal's. They are mostly just a means of concentrating and transporting
magical energies. I haven't worked out the intimate details completely.

Incidentally my sisters name is crystal. This apparently causes every mention of the word to be auto corrected into a possessive noun.

Edit: I forgot to note the idea of the stones is to hold magical energies. My mages are incapable of holding the energies within themselves or channeling without a focus point. As minerals come from the earth they are in a way connected with those energies. I'm thinking the crystals will shatter if  completely emptied of energy.

Re: The King's Paws (with one holding a bottle of Peri Peri sauce.) Howdy, everyone. It’s been a long three months, but I’m finally past many things sad and wonderful. Ready for a wee bit of normal. Send me down a cider, barkeep.

Re: Depression, Struggles and Light at the End of Every Tunnel Hey how's everyone?

Been absent for 3 or 4 months I think, but suddenly everything that could go wrong decided to explode all at the same time. Things are still pretty bad, but slightly better that I returned reading a little and hopefully will start writing again as well.

Not sure if I'll talk here, maybe I'll just PM some people for some advice later.

But for now, I'm back! What happened here meanwhile?

Re: Depression, Struggles and Light at the End of Every Tunnel Me, relaxing.
Hi, guys.

Mrs. JMack: “I’m coloring my hair, so you have a night free from me. What will you be doing?”
Me: “Checking out Fantasy-faction.”
Mrs. JMack: “Fancy what?”
