That's so nice!
And you haven't even got to the best parts, in my opinion :D

(I would love to have got a lot more action at the tree/glass house, before it got burned and she killed :'()
Yes, but @ScarletBea, how far do I have to read before I should look i the spoilers?  :o

Re: Love letter to Jen Williams - spoiler free Copper Promise erm... I think very close to the end... sorry :-[
The spoiler is related to a particular character/scenes that will only show up later.

And have you figured Sebastian yet? :D

Oh my gosh!

Thank you so much. I finished the first draft of the third book today, feeling hollowed out and exhausted, so this is such a tremendous boost, I can't even tell you.

And The Princess Bride is one of my favourite books ever. To even be mentioned in the same post is ridiculously cool. :D
Congratulations! {doffs cap}  Hopefully, I'll be able to say the same one day soon.  ???

Meanwhile, so happy to have hit good timing for a compliment!  ;D {puts cloak down across the mud puddle of every writer's need for adoring fans}  ;)

Well, you sort of hinted about him in the "Some of my best friends are..." post.  :)

Re: Love letter to Jen Williams - spoiler free Copper Promise

I am barely into The Copper Promise but I'm already in love with the book. It's got a wonderful blend of characters, fantasy tropes and cool story. But mostly it's the prose I'm enjoying for how incredibly readable but delightfully skilled it is. I feel as though in addition to the story - the center of the experience, of course - I'm getting a master class in writing.

I loved The Copper Promise for those reasons as well, together with an added bonus which I have often said about this book: the story feels like a very classical fantasy tale, of adventure and heroism, but portrayed with in an incredibly modern tone. It feels like it's leading the way towards the future of young (and less young, too) fantasy writers, in terms of prose, plot and characterization.

Besides, @sennydreadful is part of the Fantasy-Faction family, and she has been nothing but incredibly nice in our online exchanges.

I cannot wait to get my hands into The Iron Ghost. And congratulations on wrapping up the first draft of the third book  ;) I know there's must still be a considerable amount of work & rewriting to be done, but the feeling must be great  anyway!

Re: Love letter to Jen Williams - spoiler free Copper Promise I've been thinking of getting this one. So little time, so many books, but after seeing this it's going straight to the top of my must buy and read list.

Re: Love letter to Jen Williams - spoiler free Copper Promise I opened this thread with a measure of trepidation ;)

I fully agree, it's FUN and adventuresome, a nice change from the relentlessly Grim fantasy that is everywhere at the moment.

Re: Women Write Fantasy (The Giant 'Women in Fantasy' Database) I won't pretend to have facts or data, but I wonder what effect web marketing is going to have on this in the next few years. Word of mouth seems to be the 'big one' for selling books, but the most recent authors I've read have all come to my attention due to twitter, personal time on FF (like Jen Williams and Mark Lawrence), or from amazon giveaways (I know, I'm cheap). I know this isn't science, but it's been a pretty even distribution for me, and since both men and women presumably have an equal footing in their ability to reach out to people on such platforms, I wonder how it'll change things.

Re: Love letter to Jen Williams - spoiler free Copper Promise Page 214.
I know when I'm into a book when I have to cover the right hand page with my hand while reading the left.  ;D
