Re: Politics and other ailments of the real world
Just a civil servant.

hrm.  that's kind of an anticlimactic occupation reveal.

but, nice to meet you nonetheless!
I wanted to say Commander Shepard but that would have been a lie.  Though, we both have gotten shot at s/he seems to have cooler friends.

With that my hijacking is done.  Continue the debate and discussion.

Re: Did Your Parents Read To You As a Child? No, but my 1st grade teacher read to us several times in class and from there I wanted to read on my own. By Fifth grade I was on to Tolkein and thus the descent into my massive number of stories I have had the pleasure to be a part of.  So, I am always wanting to help with telling a new story or listening/reading one I haven't heard/seen before.

Re: Women Write Fantasy (The Giant 'Women in Fantasy' Database) This is a pretty awesome worksheet.  I think it will inspire several of the your writers I know.  I noticed two female indie authors I have been following not on it though, is it possible to get them added to the list?

Re: Politics and other ailments of the real world
That is the right track, but the wrong question. I think it should be how do you dismantle a multi billion dollar Industry that can buy politicians wholesale and relies on America embroiling itself in foreign wars to grow and profit?
Get people to actually start considering libertarian or independent candidates?  Dismantle the two party system so that it becomes too costly for corporate America to afford them all?  Actually start enforcing the law against all people regardless of financial class.  You get a DUI #2 but are rich you are still in prison.  You get found guilty of more extreme crimes you don't get a wrist slap 6 month sentence because of your possible future.  You get the whole 6+ years.  If your corporation scams the U.S. out of $6 billion you pay it back plus gains you made using that money.  You don't get off with a few $100million fine.
